I saw this on BBC click Salient Eye - Home security alarm system for android This app turns your smartphone, or and older longer used smartphone, which is a better option, into a security device. This could be useful when leaving your van unattended while you explore. From what I understand, you just need access to a mobile network for sending alerts, so either SMS OR mobile internet, which would be better. Not only does the app sound an alarm but it will also take a photo of an intruder and send that image to an email address.

I know it is advertised as a home security system but it should be very easy to set it up in a m/h.

I have an app on a smartphone called 'where's my droid'. If it is hidden in the van with a power supply, it can be used as a Tracker. When asked, it will give the co-ordinates of its position very accurately.

I got it for my old van but then changed vehicles and have not used it yet.

After we got burgled at home last year we bought one of these. really easy set up ( has to be for me to do it lol)And it works a treat...emails me if it detects movement and a notification comes up on iphone and ipad and can be switched on and off from either. Fully recomend it.
HomeMonitor Indoor | HomeMonitor
edit...gurgled to burgled....grrrrrrrrrrr
Ohh and even if they steal it...to late vid and pics i n the cloud

One problem i can see is the phone will have to be on show so i should imagine that it will be one of the first things the thief will steal

My Yale alarm system also phones my mobile with the pre recorded message I made if it is activated. I can also reset the alarm or switch it off from my phone.

But the phone sends emails and/or sms to you as soon as it detects movement so even if it's stolen, and it probably will be, you still get notified with the photo which will probably include the intruders face since the camera is pointing at the door.

Thanks Kryten. I tested it on the cat. It works pretty well. Took me an anxious minute to figure out how to turn off the alarm though. :D
