URGENT - water pump not working

Airlocks are the main suspect. Glad it is sorted now you can set off and enjoy your trip.
Pauljenny often talks about slaying dragons when confronted with problems, as mh'ers we are good at that with our collective forum friends.
Happy travels.

I'm pissed.

Dave - what do you mean by 'pump outlet'?
Assuming it is a Sureflo pump or similar there is a water in on a kurnled knob and water out on the same. On mine, I would unto the outlet to essentiallly release the pressure on the pump trying to push the air out the pipework to replace with water. this is the airlock situation that has be mentioned by various people. undoing that outlet is an alternative to being a human siphon and sucking on the tap end. Same difference in the end.

In my case, I spoke to the previous owner asking if he had this problem (warily as I didn't want him to think I was blaming him) and he confirmed he did when the tank was allowed to run dry ( and blamed his wife for letting it happen, of course ;) ) and his fix was to not ever drain the tank. He also said he had replaced the pump to try and eliminate it and that made no difference.

This spring, when it happened after the winter drain-down I got fed up with the faffing and decided to buy a new pump anyway just to see and the new pump worked perfectly and primed the system from drain-down situation within a couple of minutes.
Maybe the pump is servicable and can be sorted? end of the day, a new pump is not that expensive and the joy of being able to fill the water tank and then just turn the tap on to get water rather than having to lay on the floor messing around (or wrapping your mouth around a tap end?) made it worth every penny.

FIXED

I googled the airlock thing and it did the trick.

For anyone looking at this thread what I did was turn off the rest of the taps but had the shower tap open. I then had to suck on the end of the shower hose (after removing the shower head) very strongly.

It worked. I eventually got a mouthful of water and then when opening the other 2 taps in the MH they started flowing.

Panic over

MANY MANY THNAKS FOR ALL YOU FOLKS WHO RESPONDED - I am very appreciative.
I told Spigot to do that last week, the only reason I suggested the shower is because it is higher and easier to do because you can take the pipe off, you are not supposed to get a mouthful of water though 🤣

Wish I'd read (or remembered) that Terry when I had to replace the taps on my van recently and ended up with me 'ead in the sink trying to get me gob under the tap!

My old CI would air lock all the time when filling a empty tank.
I opened the shower tap with pump on when filling tank with water, no more air locks.. it cured it.
