Underslung gas tank

We're parked next to a couple in Bessacarr E582.. 62 Plate

He went to yer man at Thirsk, found him most willing and clued up.

After he'd been under their van, he couldn't find a place fo a 25L tank.
They could only get an aluminium 13 L refillable bottle into their locker.
Great because they long term abroad, but they don't have the safety margin of two tanks.
Hope your van is easier.

Ps. Don't worry about us. We have fino sherry.

How odd Paul, there is plenty of room for two 11 ltr bottles in ours and it is the smaller van.

Kev is from Colne. Mebbe the Yorkshire lad couldn't make himself understood?

Remember that his van is older than yours . Swift.... Sorry, Bessacarr, Have been making improvements since then.
I'll get more info from him tomorrow..ie, costs.
Must go, this Fino won't drink itself.

I drove all the way up to gasit in North Wales to see about an underslung tank on my MLI 580. However with both of us grovelling under the van floor we came to the conclusion that it was not possible. I wanted to bring the weight forwards to the front axle and increase the weight on it. There was one place that the Sprinter could take one on the right side behind the wheel BUT there is the hab step there which would have to go leaving a big step up into the van. So the idea has gone away. I might just have to have a spare cylinder in the garage to extend the time on gas without running out. We have managed so far but it is a bit tight now the cold weather is here.

Don’t forget if you go for the twin alloy bottles from Alugas you save quite a bit of weight over the steel bottles.

If you scroll to the bottom of the page there is a 25 ltr red tank priced at £314.99 and next to it a 40 ltr black tank priced at
£199.99 50L Gas Tank with Vapour Outlet for Caravans 315x735

Now this is probably a real numpty question but what is the difference between the two, other than price colour and size?
Second numpty question. Can a tank be put inside a gas locker or is that a big no-no?

I am no expert, but I think you will find that tanks for cars have a liquid take at the bottom of the tank.
For us with M/Hs wanting gas for heat and cooking, the liquid is taken as a vapour from the top of the tank

Quote from the description of the black tank
Application:

Vapour tanks are dedicated for storage and refilling propane-butane gas for heating or cooking in home use or for campervans, caravans, motorhomes and any other RV vehicles. Tank is equipped with valve allowing refill through standard 8mm copper or polypipe hose. Tank provides vapour outtake of the gas in size of the 8mm output which can be connected directly to gas pressure regulator.

Quote from the description of the red tank.

Application:

Red vapour tanks are dedicated for storage and refilling propane-butane gas for heating or cooking in home use or for campervans, caravans, motorhomes and any other RV vehicles. Tank is equipped with set of valves allowing refill through JIC type hose and filler, and providing vapour outtake of the gas in size of the 1/4"output which can be connected directly to gas pressure regulator.

The wording under the titles 'Application' suggest both are for MH's caravans and RV's, just the refill point is different. I just don't understand the big price difference?
