Unattended Vehicle Contents Insurance

Hi all,

I will be in Europe for a few months over summer and am struggling with valuables and equipment cover.

My Berlingo vehicle policy only covers contents only up to £300. Most Travel insurance does not cover valuables (laptops, camera etc) or luggage left in an unattended vehicle - can anyone point me in the direction of a policy that does?

Any advice is appreciated!

Comfort insurance covers for £3,000 and this can be extended to £5,000.

You say unattended Vehicle. Do you mean leaving the van to sightsee when you are on a site or Aire or using it wilding. This would be different to not occupying the van for a period during your travels.

Do you mean the motorhome insurance from Comfort? Their travel insurance seems to exclude losses from vehicles like the others I have seen. I would rather get a separate travel insurance policy rather than change my vehicle insurance.

I mean leaving it whilst sight seeing, dinner etc. We should be with the van the whole time with the exception of a few nights when we stay in a hotel with friends.
 
you may find your house contents insurance covers them .
most vehicle insurers only cover them if the vehicle is stolen as well been like that for years . saga did a nice policey with lots ofcover last i knew.

My Policy with Comfort only allows me to leave the vehicle unattended for up to 48 hours anywhere. I need specific permission to leave it longer. It the must be on a secure storage site, not just left in a car park or on a camp site. Leaving the vehicle while doing normal touristy thinks like sightseeing or eating out is just normal use.
 
Try Adrian Flux ,our camper is insured fully comp and personal belongings up 4k ,all for less than it cost to insure the car with them :)
When I asked them 'how come' their reply was simple 'we like campers' cool :)
 
I'm with Flux and think they offer a good service.

However, don't look at them with too much rose tint on your spectacles! Companies insure because they collect more in premiums than they have to pay out in claims. Not for any other reason.
 
Im not as Green as I'm cabbage looking;)
insurance companies( the ones with half a brain)' like ' campers because they realise the people generally(as a rule ) take more care and drive campers more carefully and are not as high risk as regular car drivers;)

From the theft side of it, I bet they can't believe their luck. These type of owners even help us out, by sleeping in their vehicles as protection, anything from a month to all of the year.

How happy are they ;)
