Actually I had to do it twice as had a broken windscreen and couldn't salvage the old one so don,t stick it on until the last minute it's a offence if not stuck on and their glue is good

I did the same as ***** 5 weeks ago, 6 Euro's, Iv'e got 2005 Rapido on a fiat Ducato and they sent me green sticker! bang on, were off to Germany in June for 3 weeks, starting at a site on the Rhine.

DO NOT DO IT, I did my own and it cost 6 Euros, from the genuine German site in Berlin, and it was with me threedays later.
It is dead simple and done on line with a debit card, these people charge you for basically nothing. I have the site address ,

Damn, I've got to send log book off to get it uprated. I wasn't going to change it until we have been away, just carry the paperwork with us. Oh well, just have to avoid German cities this time?

I need one of those. Mine is yellow on a 2006 ford transit and it is getting very hard to get in and out of where I park it near Tubingen without running the risk of getting fined. Trouble is a filter costs over 1000 euro to fit so that will pay for a lot of 80 euro fines, especially since I only have to run the gauntlet once or twice a year. I suspect I would be safer getting rid of the yellow sticker completely simply because no sticker among a sea of green stickers is a lot less conspicuous than a bright yellow sticker

Umweltplakette

Hi

We got ours by visiting DEKRA once we got into Germany, there's lots of DEKRA depots. Its where people go to get their 'MOTs', so can be a bit of a queue if you don't get there reasonably early...its the cheapest way to get one. It was somewhat revealing as we discovered there that the dealer where we bought the van from new in the UK had not only lied about the Euro rating of our van motor but also about the date the engine was manufactured.

Cheaper than 6 Euros? Without the hassle of finding a station and queuing?

I am in awe of the Berlin office - sending the info and paying online was so easy and 2 and a half days later my sticker arrived in the post.

Extra info - given that... 1) The sticker is destroyed if it's removed once stuck, and 2) Many, many stickers I've seen stuck to German vehicles actually don't show the reg no. (sun fading) I haven't bothered to apply for another even though the reg number on the plakette is different to the mh reg due to fancy personal reg change.

Have the docs to prove it's the same vehicle but I doubt anyone will care - all they see is the green disc!

so do you need a sticker to travel anywere in Germany ????????????????????????

I am afraid mine has been paid for and it will also be Yellow (3) :(
Don't know if I shall stick mine on either.
They have asked me to send an email with a pdf copy of my registration docs.

I suggest you research, as forum answers cannot be taken as gospel But the answer is no, it is needed for some large towns and cities! Mostly up north!

We had a very enjoyable evening in Muenchen (Munich) yesterday. Parked overnight at the Olympic stadium and caught the tram into the centre. Had completely forgotten it was Fasching - beer stalls everywhere and everyone out in fancy dress - great atmosphere!

Wouldn't have been able to do it without the plakette ;)

Best advice I can offer - if your vehicle will qualify for a green one just buy it and end the uncertainty!

Only 80 Euros for that terrible crime !!!!. Try London LEZ, £500 for under 3500kg and £1000 for over that.
You might think that they were actually trying to make it a money making enterprise, with the collection office set up in Worthing to collect the money. Nice little earner, we didn't get a road tax refund for not being allowed in but they still get the road allowances from the government

Avoid German Cities?

Be careful though, in some relatively small towns the restriction extends to include the ring road...where you wouldn't have expected it. And in some cases we noticed it on dual carriageway ring roads with no chance to turn round.
