Hi, We have booked at site at Rhosneigr, Anglesey.
Looking on google, it is a bit away from things.
Does anyone know of things to do / places to go please.
We intend to leave the camper on site, and use bus, train, foot to get about.
Any ideas please. :)

gazzele inn

A pint and a bite at the gazzele inn .great viewes of the straights .bad entrance car park .Red warf bay is a must to watch the tide come in ,and a very expencive pint at the ship in .no motorhome parking in their car park ,parking outside is ok but busy. Ligwy beech is a nice spot you can overnight in car park for a tenner day time toilet and water, cafe .worth every penny . bazz

Beaumaris Castle

Welcome to Beaumaris

It`s a bit of a trek from the site you are on but you might be able to do it on the way to or on the way back and it`s well worth the visit.

There`s plenty of parking no matter what size of van you have either in the large car park ( top left corner of website home page and that
is only a tiny part of it you can see ) immediately behind the castle or opposite by the banks of the estuary.

I think you will get round better taking your van with you,the best place are away from the main roads but try newbourogh forest ,south stack light house and cemlyn bay for starters

If you like posh houses Plas Menai on the Straits takes some beating & there are castles at Caernarvon, Beaumaris & Conway. Public transport is not great, I would use the van to get around. There are places to park & the roads, while windy are big enough to take lorries & mostly not single track, except for the really remote ones.

Other places; Parys Mountain copper mine & the Bronze age mines on the Great Orme at Llandudno - which is worth a trip on its own with the funicular trams, wild goats & fabulous views. But Rhosneigr itself is beautiful & great for swimming & boating etc with a lovely beach & rockpools.

Oh & there is a Coastal Path runs right around the Island which has wonderful cliff walks & fabulous sea views, lots of birdlife & with binoculars you may well see seals, dolphins etc. Sea trips from Beaumaris round Puffin island to see the seals & Penmon point for wild camping & fishing.

As you cross the Brittannia Bridge onto the Island, be sure to turn off immediately & go Right towards Menai Bridge & Beamaris, there is a large lay=by there on the right with great views across the Swellies & of the original Menai Bridge, worth a cup of tea & a few pictures.

Nah, pretty boring really, I wouldn't bother . . . :lol-049:

Oh & if you have English Bus passes they are not accepted in Wales :mad2:

And Ty Hen means old house.
