Watchin the Scottish news here in North Berwick nr Edinburgh, and up comes the details of last nights weather in the outer Hebrides. Motorhome blown over onto a tractor last night in Stornoway, suffered quite a bit of damage. Other vehicles blown right over, and structural damage on buildings.
Experts reckon it was a twister, only lasted for a short while. Does anyone know if it was one of our members, or who,s up that way?.....Bob

OOHHH Dear !! I hope it wasn't one of our number,, I also hope whoever it was, wasn't hurt. Isn't the weather b... aweful!! I feel so sorry for families who..perhaps because of redundancy, have bought tents this year to go on camping holidays. What a let down...weather forcasting is obviously still a million miles away from a proven science !!

We were in Stornoway the night the twister hit, however up where we were at Laxdale Holiday Park all we got was some very heavy rain and a temporary loss of power to the site.

We think the motorhome that was affected must have been somewhere down in town. It was a rental van which we think we saw in Ullapool the next day. The window in the luton had been damaged and was taped over but otherwise it looked fine.

My sympathies to the occupants but I am astonished at how big some of these luton heads are on some modern campers! its not surprising they get blown over

Hi - Me and my son were in Harris at the time, parked up in a fairly elevated and somewhat exposed position. Boy was it windy! Added to that the rain was lashing down - or should I say "across"! We heard about the "twister" the following morning when we were due to travel up to Stornoway. There was no sign of overturned cars or motorhomes in Stornoway by thre time we got there but we did see some trees that had been uprooted.

This motorhomer is a member of another forum. As far as I remember they were not hurt but the van had some damage to the side

As far as I remember the van fell onto the tractor then blew back to the upright position.

They were very lucky
