Hello

I have the above aerial fully extended "arms" and raised fully
Very poor signal ..difficulty in tuning.
I have an Avtex TV with built in Digital decoder.
I eventually got channels but breaking up all the time

The aerial can Be
a) horizontal or b) tilted

c) It can also be rotated to "point differently"

All a bit hit and miss any ideas ?

Ps It maybe that I go for a SNIPE satellite dish

Thanks

Whenever you are parking up try to look at the nearby houses the direction their aerials point

They are usually a good aerial so I would get yours checked out. Ours works very well.

If you buy a signal strength meter you can tune it in. Remove the lead from the booster box (the co-ax lead that comes from the actual aerial). Attach the signal strength meter and turn the aerial until you get the best possible signal. Then reconnect the co-ax to the booster.

As Alf says, check house aerials for their direction instead. Also note if they are flat or turned 90 degrees on their side. If they are, then you need to turn your aerial so that it is vertical. Remember to turn it back to level before lowering it for travelling. If local aerials are at 90 degrees, that means the signal is coming from a 'repeater station' and the signals are often a bit weaker.

The telescopic arms are meant for radio reception IIRC and I keep mine pushed in (it's stops them hitting the Heki 2 lid when it's up too. :)

Thanks to ALL

As I hoped some good ideas.
I will get the signal checker asap

We dont watch much live TV so I am loathed to spend £750 to £1250 on a sat system.
SNIPE seems not available now (why) and I dont want a dome system on the roof.
free standing tripod etc too much storage and also similar issues with Alignment

We have our own photos and video on USB drives all of which work fine.
And we can buy some DVDs

If you have a smart phone you can download a free app called UK Aerial Alignment, doing away with need for signal finder. It also tells you whether it needs to be vertical or horizontal. The extending arms are of no use whatever now so leave them pushed in.

There is also Freepoint UK where for £1.00 a year you get all sites listed (if you use them). I don't, but it's still a handy app.

They are both only available for Android in Google Play Store though, no good for Apple users.
