Hi we are traveling around Brittany at the moment. We have set our tv to France but no station found on search. Anyone any answers?
Thanks, think we only have 25gb on O2. Not sure how much on demand uses.
I have an Avtex TV and find French terrestrial channels when touring France. However, there are some locations where broadcast coverage is not adequate with a relatively low (and multi-directional) aerial, even with a booster. If close to a large city and you're not getting any channels, worth checking what criteria are in play with the "France" setting. I gave up using the "France" setting on a now defunct Avtex set because it was searching not only the currently used digital frequencies but also long-disused analogue frequencies, resulting in an unnecessarily long search. Searching with the "UK" setting covered all required frequencies. If in north Brittany and close to the coast, you might even pick up Channel Islands broadcasts.Should have brought an old phone with me. Maybe be better prepared the next time. Not really missing tv, just like to see if I could it picked up french stations.
As per RichardHelen62, we used the same set up to watch Her Majesty`s funeral in full whilst sat on a lovely aire in FranceIt could just be a poor reception area try retuning when you next move, but you will only get French channels which is ok if you are fluent in French,
We used a firestick earlier this year and a Tesco unlimited sim and just tethered it to my phone which worked a treat
I used satellite dish - no Fire TV Stick or smart TV at the time and these days using a Réglo Mobile SIM when in France, so streaming of UK mainstream channels not possible (even if I managed to set up a VPN in the case of at least the BBC and possibly others). As per RichardHelen62, we used the same set up to watch Her Majesty`s funeral in full whilst sat on a lovely aire in France
5 hours solid, 9.75GB and brilliant quality roaming with Tesco Mobile![]()
France use the Secam TV system. In England and, in fact, most of the rest of Europe, we use the Pal system. You need a multi-standard TV set which are widely available. AVTEX is a multi- standard TV brand . I have had one for many years. Mine has input for Terrestrial TV and Satellite so if you have a dish on your campervan you can plug it straight in. Of course, with a dish you can receive all the UK channels too. Hope this helps.Hi we are traveling around Brittany at the moment. We have set our tv to France but no station found on search. That was back in the 20th century, they now use DVB-T and T2, the same as UK, I did wonder if op in setting to France was using Secam which no longer works.France use the Secam TV system. Is will depend on what you watch and how often you watch it should last you at least a week. So if you are in France and you need your phone and your holiday is longer it’s not an option. Probably something worth looking at when you get back to the UK. O2 Three Vodafone and EE are the main mobile providers if you want to pay a small fortune. Thanks, think we only have 25gb on O2. The roaming allowance is the issue with most UK SIMs. A foreign SIM will overcome this but major UK channels will then not stream and the BBC at least is very hot on blocking VPN connections. Is will depend on what you watch and how often you watch it should last you at least a week. On the no frills providers like Smarty which uses Three and now joined with Vodafone you can get 80 gig for £12 on a 30 day rolling contract. I use Smarty but I am not affiliated in any way with Smarty but it’s excellent value and you get free roaming in Europe. Just check the allowance.
