Trouble finding a gas regulator

So, I landed in the UK, bought a van, got supplies, started heading south through France.

I've for a problem though. When I bought our camp stove (campingaz 2 burner and a 907 bottle) I was told that it came with a regulator... Which it turns out wasn't accurate.

I'm in France at the moment and been looking around a lot for one with no luck. Campingaz suppliers often have very limited stock. They will sell stoves and bottles but no regulators.

And ideas on where I might strike it lucky? Can I make so with a generic regulator? (If so, what kind?)

Thanks for any advice. I can live on cheese and croissants for so long!

try the big hypermarkets, almost all supply campingaz and should have the regulators. or any campingcar seller. or possibly the local quincaillerie/ ironmonger . but i'd say hypermarket

Agree with Nigel, any Hyper or Brico and even some Supermarkets.
One thing to note is that most French regulators have a small 'cut off' button in case of serious leakage and this will need pressing in after you have connected it.

It would help if you said whereabouts in France you are ?

Currently in Bourges and will be heading south.

Maybe it's just bourges are three season but the hypermarkets have little to no outdoor stock.

Haven't tried bricomarche or a camping car place. Will take a look later on. :)

Are you sure your stove doesn't work at bottle pressure,I had a double burner,a single burner,a lamp and a heater that all worked that way.

Regulator

That's a camping gaz 907 cylinder you are on about.........try E Leclerk hypermarket, bigger the better or, if still no luck go on web, Google maps, or camping gaz stockist for your direction of travel.......camping gaz got an entire list of outlets.....but don't for goodness sake do what some are suggesting here, and use anything non recommended, get the right one as recommended by dealer.......steve bristol

As stated above, the obvious places are the bricolage stores; Leroy Merlin, Bricomarche, Mr Bricolage, Brico Depot, E. Leclerc Brico, Bricorama etc. There is also a franchise called Weldom, which are smaller independent shops and are probably worth a go if you see one by the side of the road.

Might be worth looking in the outdoor type shops, e.g. Decathlon as well. But you will struggle at this time of year - French shops are very much seasonal in their stock. But keep trying, most are franchises and the stock in one is unlikely to reflect the stock in another.

also ask any French campers if you see any parked up, they might even have one knocking about- i've got one in my van 'just in case' and i find other campers pretty helpful

Try the Narbonne Accessoiries website for list of branch addresses. Clermont Ferrand south of where you are now, definitely has a branch as do most large towns. Quiet honestly if N.A. haven't a Camping Gas regulator they should liquidate asap!!

If you're having trouble finding one in France they must have had a run on them for some reason. There has to be some large hypermarkets that have them.
I can see them now, vac wrapped on cards hanging up by the dozen just above the gaz bottles opposite the fishing rods, right next to the shot gun cartridges and swimming pool skimmers.

edit: I know I'm sad. I'd rather spend 3 hours in a hypermarket than 3 hours on the beach.

Had a look in a bricomarche and loo and behold there were three! .. However no pipes. :/ I'm not really clued up on this stuff. I assume I can just buy a generic pipe?

The stock in Bourne is probably lower then most. There is a great campervan parking area in the middle of town. 40 places or so with a service point and free WiFi. Seems fairly popular with French campers even in winter.
