Triple QX 10w40 Semi-Synthetic

Just ordered - 2 for the price of 1 and FREE delivery! Maybe something to do with the oil glut?

Hold the front page - The code for the fully synthetic 5w50 is FREEOIL2 - just ordered some, free delivery.

It only appears to apply for the semi synthetic linked by the OP - no good for the Peugeot Boxer (and presumably the FIAT Ducato) which should have fully synth 5w40
2002 Fiat Ducato 2.8 JTD uses semi synthetic 10W40 so not absolutely correct

Well spotted young fella. :lol-061:

It is also incorrect for the 3 litre Nissan Diesel in my Renault.

I tried to get some replacement wipers for my Skoda Roomster from them. They do not sell them, only the rear wiper. :( The model has been around for a long time now, so their system is not perfect. The car goes in shortly for its second annual service and they will fit mega expensive Skoda wipers which will be just as crap as the original ones. :(

That is precisely why i headed the thread Triple QX 10w40 Semi-Synthetic and didn`t just put general motorhome oil.

That way members would know if that particular grade / viscosity was suitable for their vehicle.

10w40 Semi-Synthetic is the correct grade of oil for 2002 - 2006, X244 versions of the Ducato 2.8 JTD, Boxer 2.8 HDi and the Relay 2.8 HDi

A while back it was stated that you could also use 5w40 oil on the 2005-2006 model but this proved to be a mistake.

Several parts supply companies also started saying that 5w40 could be used on all the 2002-2006 models.

There were numerous reports of people changing to 5w40 and then finding that the front crank seal started leaking and this could contaminate the timing belt.

The simple fact is that the 5w40 grade is too thin and is slowly getting past the seal.

The post on here saying " no good for the Peugeot Boxer (and presumably the FIAT Ducato) which should have fully synth 5w40 " is not completely correct.

You cannot generalise and there is no generic / one size fits all when it comes to oil.

5w40 Fully Synthetic is only suitable for the 2006 -, X250 versions of the above vehicles.

I cannot say which size engines as i have no experience of the newer version so please refer to your handbook.

But, putting my reg. in Eurocarparts for a 2004 2.8 HDi it does suggest it uses TRIPLE QX 5w40 Fully Syn.
I've ordered both - which one do i collect ??????

That`s precisely what i said about the parts supply companies recommending the wrong oil.

Personally i would only use the 10w40 Semi-Synthetic.
