Trip to Galloway

Thanks Ste. Looks like that could be interesting now added to the list.

Does anyone know any good spots for beachfishing in the area? It looks to be a popular area for Bass.

All around luce Bat can produce a Bass, esp around the Port Patrick area and look for sandy bays with rocks either end. The burn that runs into Luce Bay near to the ranges also produces Bass to.

Do you have a grid reference for the above area you stayed at?
We will be in the area next week
Thanks

Tim

Unfortunately the location mentioned has a Traffic Regulation Order in place that prohibits camping and overnight sleeping.

So if you can stay awake all night you should be fine!

You'll find the place here:

Be aware the Wigtown Harbour floods in high tides. As we are approaching Springtime, there WILL be some high tides.

You can still park up but you need to stay back from the edge of the Harbour where the ground is slightly higher. The locals are friendly as is the owner (Harbourmaster) and they will probably advise you.

Dhoon Bay location

Dhoon Bay just outside Kirkudbright is a lovely place to stop for a night or two. We have been there twice this year. It is a large picnic area right on the beach and there's public toilets as well. We gathered dead wood from over the road and had a BBQ on the beach and then our beach fire until we were ready to settle down for the night. Make sure you try and have your fire below the high water mark so that when the tide comes in it takes the remains out with it and there is no mess left.
Hope you enjoy your stay in that area. Cheers, Bill.

The location looks ideal but I am unable to find a Dhoon Bay near Kirkcudbright. There is a Doon hill at Nun Mill Bay with Carpark & Toilets. Is this the location.
Much appreciate it if you would reply. The only Dhoon Bay that in streetmap comes up at Isle of Man.
