Travel Insurance or EHIC

Me and OH have just taken out insurance and believe it or not it has cost us nearly £300!!! through all the medication we have between us, but I would not dream of not having it also have the card ECIH.I have a controlled drug (morphine) both patches and liquid which bumps it up now it seems we have more medication than clothes or it just seems that way!! Cant remember who with but nearly fell off sofa when he told me  :scared:

That raises an interesting point. The EHIC will cover you for emergency treatment and for things that develop while you are in the country but not for pre-existing conditions. If you have a pre-existing condition that needs medication then it might be a good idea to have a word with your doctor about prescribing you enough medication to last the length of your trip. My wife needs blood pressure medication and always gets 6 months supply before we go to Spain.

As long as you all keep screwing it, that's all good then. The Ehic and the E111 before it was brought into being for emergency treatment only. The NHS still have to pay, no wonder it's wilting.

Pardon?? The treatment I described was perfectly legitimate under the EHIC scheme. We have paid our taxes consistently over the years and are entitled to that treatment, whether we are in the UK or a partner EHIC country. Do you not regard potentially going blind as an emergency?

Falling ill is not " screwing it" I think your forgetting that people are on holiday and I'm sure there are 1000's of other places they would rather be than a doctors surgery or a hospital. So I imagine it is going to be an " EMERGENCY "
The system of ehic is an insurance we all pay into which covers us for tha basics.same as some travel insurance, you can buy basic, premium or gold. But you pay more for the top end ones. Unfortunately we can't pay more..
Your post shows no consideration for others who might have been ill whilst away and the tough times they have endured of coping with an emergency in a foreign country and where communication might be a problem , and having the support of loved ones unvailable .
So excuse me if I don't give your post a like.

About 3 years after becoming a Spanish resident i had to come back to the UK the EHIC card i had was Spanish while there i became ill and my son took me to the local hospital i had to wait nearly 3 hours for them to make sure that it was ok for them to treat me  PS still blinking hot roll on the winter :lol-049::lol-049::lol-049:

I have to have a letter from my GP before I go but that is no problem what they are worried about is the steel rod in my back setting off the alarms!! It has been in for 50yrs so my GP said he would explain about that as well :scared:
