I ve just got a new van (Dethleffs Summer Edition) and its got blown air heating.
The setting dial has 1 to 6 on it, what base setting do you recomend?
Off for first night on Saturday, between Lincoln & Grantham :D

So you have a gas fire with 12v blown air heating I would say the colder
you are turn up fire set to 2-3 and see how you get on:D:D

If you are not on HU and wild camping your system will use the leisure
battery power.
all the best.

I find putting my blown air heating on 4 keeps me cosy and if the thermostat is well sited it will keep a nice temp with minimun blowing. The secret with these heaters is that some makes have the sensor for the thermostat in ridiculous places.
I found my cosy setting by trial and error as will you.
Don't worry too much about battery, just turn it off (the heating) when you get into bed..... it may be chilly in the morning but just put it back on when you wake up, fire up the kettle and you will be cosy by the time you are drinking your preferred morning beverage.;)

our sensor is near the door the ideal place i believe
we use it as little as we can due to the cost of gas
if we find the need to use it we usualy try it mid way then find we have to lower the thermostat for over night use

About mid way seems to work well for us.

The trick is not to put it up too high to start with to warm up megga quick. If you do you get into a yo yo situation of on / off. Too hot, so turn it off, then too cold so put it back on up high again  Once we learnt to use it sensibly and found where our comfort setting was it has been fine.

Still think I prefer the all round heat of the Alde radiator/pipe system better though. :( Had it in our previous van and it was one of the things we had to compromise when we changed van. Why is it you can never find a van which meets 100% everything on your wish list

Have a good time.

the secret is to keep it on a low-mid setting and wear lots of layers that can be removed once you start warming up!Oh, and lots of cups of tea assist in the process!!!!

Thanks for your help.

Spent a very snug night in the new van. Set it on '2' and it was plenty warm enough.
Very impressed with the Dethleffs system of piped heating, it even has a pierced heating pipe running round the fixed rear bed :D
