Transcend DrivePro 220

Just ordered a Transcend DrivePro 220 whilst on offer at Halfords, anyone else got one ?

I like the fact that as well as the date and time it also displays the latitude & longtitude co-ordinates and the speed.

I let you know how i get on with it.

My last dash cam had a seriously hissy fit and is now dead

A run out in the motorhome the other day confirmed i need a replacement ASAP after a Liverpool gentleman decided he would just randomly pull across the front of us in order to reverse into a parking space on his side of the road. I stopped with only an inch or so to spare :scared:

He was ranting and raving and waving his fist at me until all 6` 5" of me got out of the van to discuss it with him, at that point he fekked off fast.

Picked it up from Halfords today and had a quick play with it. Early days but it`s looking fantastic

The quality of the 1080P video payback is staggering :scared: and in a different universe when compared to my previous 1080P ( allegedly ) dash cam.

The long & lat co-ordinates and speed are virtually identical to the info shown on the Garmin Camper so that will tie in nicely.

If anyone else gets one you need to update the firmware from v1.07 to v1.12. which you download from the Transcend website.

The update goes onto the SDHC card first and then put it back in the dash cam and let it upgrade itself :hammer: it only takes a couple of minutes.

All now fitted and looks the dogs b*llocks

I took the rear view mirror off when the van was new as having no rear window rendered it useless :rolleyes2:

The new dash cam now sits where the rear view mirror should be so it`s high up and bang in the centre of the field of view

Now just need a decent run to use it in anger and being Wi-Fi i should be able to view the footage on my phone without messing about taking the SDHC card out.

I have a "china" dash cam which is on a constant 2.5hr loop, bought it 2 years ago. It is mounted high up where the rear view mirror would sit if needed, and a cable follows the window round connected to another camera which points at my reversing/rear view camera, so I have a recording front and back of the road.
It is a fit n forget item that hopefully I will never need, although, every few months I take the SD card out and check that it is still working. :)

I`ve had 2 cheap ones off Ebay now and they both went tits up, the first one after only 3 months although the second one did last 18 months.

I decided this time to spend a bit more and whilst this one is still " Made in Taiwan " the build quality and video footage is in a different world to the others.

I also wanted one that showed lat & long and the speed on the footage which this one does.

Time will tell i suppose but i`ve registered this one with Transcend and it comes with 2 years warranty.

Nice 1  mine was £106.99 which was still cheaper than the standard price.

It was your post that made me look into them, and finding myself ata loose end today I thought I would go and purchase one, only to find they had a special deal on that I couldn't refuse

Have you had chance to have a play with it yet ?

If so, what do you think ? I`m well chuffed with mine

I have had the Transcend 220 from Halfords £89 for a couple of weeks now ( Recommended by Wooie ) I am a bit of a computer dummy at setting things up but this was the easiest I have ever done, enough options to set what I want.

Just ordered one from argos £89.99. I'm away until feb so won't be able to try it out .
Mickey.
