I have seen you reverse bud, peage would be too tight for you to reverse through.Do you think if i reversed through they would pay me ?
OK, but if you know you are being overcharged should you not query it ?I was merely commenting on the Thread as a whole, where there is at least one post that acknowledges that the Van, under French Autoroute Regs is Class 3, but if it is charged as such, they 'try it on' by pleading a mistake and 'get away' with Class 2. That is dishonest
Steve
You can get in trouble for reversing more than 15mts in Spain Wully. E500 fine.Do you think if i reversed through they would pay me ?
I have seen you reverse bud, peage would be too tight for you to reverse through.
The OP admitted they were over 3m, so Class 3, but claimed Class 2 and 'got away with it'OK, but if you know you are being overcharged should you not query it ?
I would. Yes, if you know or even think you are being overcharged, query it.OK, but if you know you are being overcharged should you not query it ?
Really, don't think breaking into a van is quite the same is it !!We wonder why Motorhomers have such a poor reputation amongst the wider public; and then read this Thread about pressing the button to say the system is wrong to classify you as Category 3, so 'you can get away with it'. That is fraud and in UK would constitute an offence under the Theft Act. I wonder if the same Members complain about immigrants at Calais trying to break into Vans to gain free passage or steal stuff?
If you don't want to pay Category 3, get a smaller bloody Van and act honestly
Steve
Autoroute categories in France are based on height, not vehicle type and the Industry Guide indicates that the majority of Motorhomes fall into Category 2; but it is explicit that that 3m+ height is Catgory 3, no reference to not being HGV, purely on heightReally, don't think breaking into a van is quite the same is it !!
I think the 3m height for a class 3 is to identify commercial/ HGV vehicles etc, my vehicle is classed as a camping car in French law the same as a car the clues in the name, all I am doing when pressing the button is bringing this to attention that I am not a HGV etc my vehicle is infact car , why is it that on more than 2 out of 3 occasions the person reduces the class 3 to class 2 ( car) it is only when you get a jobsworth who refuses!
Very similar to the French speed traps one is set for the height of cars the other for HGV,s I have been flashed many many times as the trap thinks I am a HGV but with no ticket ever arriving in the post as I presume the image is looked at by a person and see I am a camping car not a HGV
That is not the case at all.Really, don't think breaking into a van is quite the same is it !!

Big so what !The OP admitted they were over 3m, so Class 3, but claimed Class 2 and 'got away with it'

Talked to many French people apparently they all do it, "what's good for the goose is good for the gander" ! The simple fact that the nice French toll booths operator allows you to "get away with it" most of the time says a lot about the system.Never forget an elderly couple we met down in Sommières one year who had a Swift Lifestyle 590, it had the overcab bed ( grumpy humpy ) as wifey calls them so it triggered the 3m Class 3 everytime they approched the toll booths.
The lady in the passenger seat pressed the button for assistance and just kept saying ...... camping car, camping car, camping car, camping car until the person at the other end changed the classification back to Class 2 then they paid and reackon it worked all the time
We automaically trigger Class 2 being a low profile and have a Bip&Go tag so " Her ladyship " doesn`t even have to open her window nowTalked to many French people apparently they all do it, "what's good for the goose is good for the gander" ! No motorhomes should be class2 in Spain.some websites I have checked say class1. The machine identifies vehicles over 3 m and thinks they are hgv and class 3 . It's a quite well known mistake in Spain so I have no problem with querying it and am not trying to get away with anything . So I will not be taking your advice to sell my motorhome and buy a smaller one !The OP admitted they were over 3m, so Class 3, but claimed Class 2 and 'got away with it'

Crossed wires here! Post #28 referred to Camping Car being over3m in height and classified [in error] as HGVin France. This is not the basis of charging in France as I clarified in Post #29.No motorhomes should be class2 in Spain.some websites I have checked say class1. You thieving fraudster !!!!OK, getting two complicated for me but I will continue to query any machine trying to charge me class 3 and sleep soundly.
Sticks and stones. You thieving fraudster !!!!
