Thule electric step not working.

Need some help pls.

2016 Autotrail Apache. Electric step has suddenly stopped working. The motor sounds like it's turning as normal, but the step is totally floppy, no resistance at all.

I've contacted the dealer but they are bloody useless again and can't look at it until Fri. I'll be on a ferry by then.

I'm probably going to open the mechanism myself, it looks like a simple plastic cover with 2 bolts.
Anyone able to advise what I should be looking for?

I can live without the step, but the Sargent control panel (EC325) is continually in alarm when driving as it thinks the step is out. I'm trying to contact Sargent to see if I can disable the alarm. Anyone know how to do that?

Hi ya,
Oh how annoying that constant alarm must be for you, it would drive me nuts !.
Take the fuse to the step out until you can get it looked at !.

Give jimhunterj4 a shout he had probs with his step and he can assist you.he is a maniac oops meant mechanic and has knowledge.

Stripped gear on the motor/drive.... or motor loose on mountings,?

Thanks folks. I've found a small limit switch in the step to stop the bloody alarm! I've also driven to the dealer and have convinced them to at least secure it. I've used duct tape but want it safe. Funny how they found time to have a look once the conversation was happening in front of other customers!
