Throttle a Renault master

A lot of the cause is driving too steady al the time, diesels need a good blast occasionally,
You see it regularly people bragging how many miles per gallon they get from their motorhome because the drive at 50mph all the time then next thing they are spending a load of money on the egr valve or dpf,
If you don’t want to drive at 70 now and again then consider driving at 60 in a lower gear to get the oil temp up and the revs up, best done on long up hill hauls
I drive on a light throttle and have the trip computer on 'Instant Consumption' because it's too easy to let the right foot drop and see the fuel consumption increase dramatically, without a commensurate increase in speed]. The gradients in Scotland are sufficient to be able to put the engine under load, and increase the rpm as the drop to 5th and then 4th occurs, stopping a build up of clag/soot. Having done this on several journies, I know that I can still expect the first 1/4 tank to cover 135 miles, and, if I don't achieve this range, it serves as an early warning that something may be amiss, unless I can explain it by extra load carrying/ stop & start driving etc

I used to run on instant MPG but kept running over people so switch to trip MPG, I do zero it every day when away to make it earn it's keep.

Give it a good thrashing ever now and then on the motorway. When you come off the slip road rev it hard in every gear and drive it as fast as it can go or till you scare yourself. It’s good fun and your van will thank you for it.

Now it's sorted - does anyone else read the thread title and think it looks like a suggestion?
You need to get in touch with your Zen Master, Jo, and pray that the Renault can come back as a Motorhome in the next life ... o_O

Blanking plates are available for most see if you can find one for yours they are a easy fix if valve is accessible just loosen it off an slide plate in
This is the 3rd time we have had to put an EGR valve on in 3 years. We have just drove the van and it’s lost power again. Seriously thinking of putting a blanking plate on … my question is will a garage do this or is frowned upon ?
Will it damage the engine in anyway ?
Will it solve the problem ?

Make sure you have covered the basics first. Eg When was fuel filter and air filter last changed. Clogged fuel filter on my Movano/Master caused a lot of problems.

All changed Vernon 🤔
The garage are putting on a new EGR valve however and say they can’t put a blanking plate on they tried previously

A blanking plate can cause instant limp mode. I tried a couple on a couple of Ducatos I had. One worked fine - but I think the MOT would fail with it on - and the other caused limp mode after a mile. I then drilled a 5mm hole in it, and the engine worked fine.

What else do you want ?

I'll look at adding it for yo.
I'm sorry I missed this post.

I'm not sure now   I did at the time but it went on holiday with me and didn't come back.

maybe cost per litre, litre to gallon and any calculation that might be useful.
