The camping season has almost arrived and people are starting to prepare their vans for another year of wild camping.

I have a big list of repairs / mods / upgrades that I want to get done to my van this year.

What are you planning on doing?

Im saving up to fill the fuel tank up!!:(
We have had a few weekends already so as soon as our home is finished were away as many weekends as my salary will take us...

Was thinking of a tow bar but have been quoted over £1000 for our Compass Drifter 410 on a Peugeot chassis! have to wait quite a while....shame as I like to tow my motorbike on it.

As little as possible.

Instead the time will be far better spent meandering around Europe for the best part of 4 months.

Dezi

I am halfway through modifying one of the 2 dinette bench seats into 2 reclining singles. I made the bases and backrests then ordered new material for all of the seating in the van. 6 weeks later I have just gone to the shop and got my money back as the fabric is not available for months. :mad1:

I still intend to finish the seat mod and just use any material to cover the foam temporarily.

I am thinking of buying a 300 watt wind turbine. They are good value at around £180 on ebay. Until recently, this size of turbine would have been big money and not worth buying.

Hia

Last year I developed a leak in my external waste water pipe and Rob kindly taped it up for a temporary solution

Today I bought some grey waste plastic pipe to replace it

Now when I come to look

How does it connect to the waste tank?

is there some kind of connection?

and on the tap end it is fairly rigid so it must have something inserted in the end

would I be right in thinking that and if so what is it

Then I will be repairing my waste water pipe

also

sorting my gas hose (so both my hoses will be gaslow) out just waiting for the postman to deliver it and then it will be fitted

I wouls like to have solar panels on top but that needs money

Thanks

We decided to take out the faulty gas struts (bed), which were replaced in France last year when they ceased to work properly, but these didn't last very long. We had paid for the fitting of 2 new struts but have found one is the original German one!!! No wonder we still had problems. We were well and truly ripped off. Very annoyed, so have had to send for some new ones and will endeavour to fit ourselves.

All curtains have been washed and ironed and the van cleaned. Electrics and gas have been tested and seem fine. A trip to the Lakes for a few days will test if any problems, then it's away to Europe in April for a few months, where we hope to bump into some fellow 'wilders'.

Make a list of jobs for the wife to get on with.

I've told her to be careful on the roof when washing it.

I'll buy her a new stepladder for her birthday.

Hi,

Not sure if the first one counts:

1)Ladder for Over Cab bed
2)Fixed TV Ariel (why r they so expensive?)
3)Outside Satellite Dish connection (using a Sly dish on a pole)
4)Additional 12V power socket for the TV

Not sure if I should use the LCD TV from the Bedroom or splash out on one of those all-in-one FreeView / FreeSaT & DVD

Early planning stage - the Coax connectors seem easy enough, but more thought needed for the 12V power socket, what cable?, should I go direct to the Leisure Battery or via the EBL99 - all part of the fun

Cheers
Matthew

Nothing to do on mine as I've completed the following jobs over the last 11 months,
Wireless reversing camera,
Twin 110amp leisure batteries,
Battery master,
160watt of solar panels,
20amp MPPT controller,
1000watt inverter,
19"freeview tv dvd player,
adjustable tv bracket,
status 530 aerial,
Twin 11kg gaslow bottles,
outside barbeque point,
Spare wheel,
heavy duty carpet right through,
12volt accesory point in garage,
waxoyled underneath,
fitted safe.

Now trying to think of something so van will run on fresh air:drive:.

John.

Just had a second battery put in, a solar panel fitted, tap fixed, shower waste fixed and a roof blind replaced.

Getting some seat covers made and desperately need 4 tyres. Would love a new tv with a DVD player as the last ones just packed in but the tv will have to wait, it still works as a tv just no DVD

erm let me think, erm, erm, nope, cant think of any repairs that need doing :rolleyes2::sad:

I have just resealed the leaking skylight. Replaced the leisure battery, bought an Avtex TV/DVD player. Miltoned the fresh/ waste tanks. MOTed. Merlin.
I spent last night at Keswick at 1 of the poi. I am now parked right next to Loch Lomond and have found a new POI. it's N 56 17' 23", W 4 41' 30" it's a LR.
I next plan to replace the carpet with Lino. I don't want patterned or wood effect. Any suggestions?

Sorry but these coordinates aren't correct ... please can you recheck?

Thanks :)

I'm still building my van ! Hope to have it nearly finished by the summer :drive: check out my blog for regular updates.

Running wires around the roof and floor for the new solar/wind regulator... always fun...

POI Wildcamp spot

Hi Canalsman,
That what's coming up on my sat nav. The entry point from the road (A82) is. N 56 17' 25", W 4 42' 37". Maybe I've got my sat nav configured wrong. I have it set for. D• m' s". If I set it for degrees in the menu the same entry point comes up with. N 56.29053, W4.71054.

Yep - that's right now, and I've added it to the POI Downloads :)

Thanks

Chris
