I am struggling with the concept of living in a house (albeit a lovely bungalow) and working in London (3 hours a day travelling to and from Work)
We have the tunnel booked for the end of May for a couple of weeks but its a struggle not to sell up and drive off into the sunset. (Mrs Colpot wont let me!)
Have only been away one weekend so far this year but planning more soon.

Raring to go

Hardly used the Winnebago during the winter months and found the clutch was playing up-could not get gears. Someone at the garage said it was because it had not been moved very frequently but that it would free itself. So we are a bit worried about going far at first. Has anyone else come across this?

I have had itchy feet for a while but the snow stopped us getting away. We had a trip to East Yorkshire last week which was cut short because of m/home problems. The Alde heating system had a fault, the kitchen sink was blocked and the windscreen wipers seized up. That is what happens when you are not using your m/home. ;)

There is only the wipers to sort out now. I still have itchy feet. :D

Just go anyway, we were away over new year and plaaning a weekend away soon.

But roll on spring!

Hi jim we went to stay in the motorhome at the start of the year all was fine until we discovered that the fire was not working so had to come home.Fortunately we was only about 5 miles away but it kinda ruined the day.It turned out to be the ignitor, i got it cleaned up again with some sand paper and a squirt of wd40 and sorted the wiring, now works as good as it always did;)

We went to the fernworthy resevoir the week before last and had a good walk with a good nights peaceful sleep the night before.I have always got the itch to hit the road cant wait until we are free to do what we want to and tell me employer to go and **** themselves.

We will be going up to Scarborough next Thurs after work untill Monday. (long week-end)

John.

winter breaks

Done 2 this year, first was the second o january which was supposed to have been Barrasie beach but council goal posts put paid to that and ended up on a shoreline carpark in Troon for the night. The ferry makes big noise we found out, well she did, I slept thru till 10ish and away lastweek end to the forests. Aiming for at least once a month every month wi more if work allows. Fills me wi sadness as i brush past Toxic n jump into Hulk to drive to work (yes i even stroke her when im no driving her)

Itchy feet

Yep - gave in to the itchy feet yesterday so following an afternoon visit to the Forest of Dean thought it would be a great idea to push on down to the shore front parking place at Llantwit. At that point the weather was dull but calm.

Take my word folks, you NEVER want to be on the M4 around Cardiff in a Bambi when the wind gets as bad as it did last night - for the first time ever I seriously thought he was going to end up on his side.

And when I got there it seemed to be a boy racers' annual convention!! lol

Such are the joys of doing stuff on the spur of the moment

We were out overnight on new years eve, and have since had a couple of weekends away but not far.
Does overnighting at Brownhills count? :D Tha'ts when we realised the following morning that we had an outside water leak from the heating system, so it had to stay another week to be repaired.
Luckily our 'van is parked at home so, we just need the slightest of excuses to get back out there...obviously to test the repaired heating and hot water system !!!! ;)

itchy feet

use our motorhome each week if only to give it a run. The first real outing will be next week on a Suntrecker weekend....

ready for the off

Pleased to say the old 98 (and 98k miles) Duetto passed it's MOT at a Ford main dealer without so much as a 'recommended' comment.

I have half-heartedly had it advertised for sale but after this cold winter perhaps just one more trip to South of France for a month or three.

Giving it a shake-down run to Cornwall then expect to leave early March.

getaway

drove in my peugot boxer from norwich to aberdeen to visit son etc for xmas. the A1 in northumberland below berwick on tweed was incredible. like a little country lane with massive potholes and uncleared of snow and ice, 20 mph job. the laybys were impossible to get in/out and berwick was like an alaskan village. when left tarves (village in aberdeen) i spent the new year exploring aberdeen coast for 10 days wild camping. fantastic. only dog walkers (and dog ****) around. after unbelievable 4 months in sweden and norway last year alone with canoe, i 'm tempted to just let house and clear off for indefinite time.
i'm a retired cycle tourist female in her 60,s and can't understand the horror of people whenever you do anything solo. is it me? or everyone else that has the problem.

you are right i live in berwick upon tweed and it was like alaska. but come back in better weather it is a great place

Just booked the dover to calais for half term week. First trip of the year...;)

We recently back from a wonderful trip of Ireland (going back in May!)
Are we missing the "drom" (romany for road!)...oh, YES!! Weather is horrible but it "killing" us not being away!!

good to hear a few of us are getting out.
am going to head up to the western isl this weekend and see where i go from there.

We took our van down to see family last week which was our first trip of the year. A good 150 mile each way run to clear the cobwebs.

Hope to get to huttoft/Mog Eye in the next week or two and then see how it goes from there.

Hi Marc - which Islands are you heading for!! If it is Isle of Lewis, might see you on the road.

Travel safe
