The old stables pub stopover, Beattock, Scotland.

Staying at the Old stables Pub n Beattock tonight. Very friendly and had a very nice steak, ale and Stilton pie. Very quiet (although it is a tues night in the middle of january!)

Highly recommended as a stopover.

I agree, it's an excellent stopover and very handy for the M74.
