The Navigation, Buxworth

We had some great meets and some fantastic nights one of the funniest was when you picked up that stray dog on the motorway and it almost destroyed your van 🤣🤣
Yes a little staffy running along the hard shoulder. It looked like he had just been dumped and was chasing his cruel owner. He then turned off the shoulder and under my van. I stopped dreading the worse. But he came out from under my van even though I felt a bump. He ran up my leg like a cat then onto the passenger seat. We set off again having somehow not caused an accident when he spotted Rocco and jumped into the back. They caused havoc playing wrecking the place. I had to stop and put the staffy in the bathroom where he sat on the mushroom that you pressed to flush the toilet. That in turn emptied the fresh water tank and flooded the cassette. That had pee in it from the last meet and it stunk the van out that much I had to abandon the Nav meet and go home. But there was a lady who adopted unwanted Staffies I met before I left and he ended up down south in a very nice detached house with its own beach. He sure got his own back on me for running him over.
..... Tom ....

Fun times.

Did you have any meets there when it was Bet from Coronation Street owned it? Used to be busier back then

Was it?

Its me going doolally, just googled and Bets pub was in Whaley Bridge :)

Bill's right Neil it was Pat Phoenix.

But that was in the 60's and I don't think there were many Wild Camping meets back then. I could be wrong though! 😁

Some writing of a steady decline on the boating community ....on the boating forums

Boaters not welcome and visitors not being welcome for a few months now ...

So perhaps more to it than meets the eye .

There were some really friendly locals in there, as you say once accepted.

Lisa was a great barmaid too.

Oops - name mix up! The barmaid was Charlotte - although if there was a Lisa I'm sure she would have been a great barmaid too! 😁
