Thats the van winterised!

Not so! Going away at Christmas for three weeks to the Lake District. Its not really put away for the winter. Its going to snow here tomorrow so I don't want it on the front in case some nutter in a 20 ton tractor yacking on his mobile phone destroys it.

I wonder if there is a way to make the reversing camera swivel up and down the road so I can see if there is nutter in a tractor coming when I reverse it out.
Use Michelle as a banksman

You've saved a fortune not getting lithium, treat yourself to an Insta 360 x4. :)

No. Kevs idea is cheaper. :D

The two camera reversing cameras is a big bonus though. Its quite a manoeuvre to get the van in there as the road is quite narrow. I had to ask the guy over the road to stick his car further up his drive but with the reversing camera focused right on the scooter rack and just beyond it was a lot easier than the old van and this one is a whole metre longer. Getting it out is a two man (well man and woman) job though unless you want to play Tractor roulette.

Oh ferkin ell! there is!! :ROFLMAO:

Oh that would be cool!! The current one has night vision and it actually works.

Any recommendations for pipe insulation? I would like to insulate the waste pipes which are flexible and about 1 inch and I’d prefer waterproof , both tanks are insulated but if anything is going to freeze it will be the waste from the bathroom

Actually it does work. Nothing frosts up on the drive and unless it gets really really sub zero it rarely freezes. I have of course drained the boiler, tanks, disconnected the pump etc. Snow coming tomorrow so thought it best to put it away. I just hope the solar does just enough to keep the cab battery topped up there. We will see.

How did you get out of the MH when it's parked up like that Barry?

Must say Barry I thought you would be out and about in winter, and that kind of changes the other issue about your batteries. If you only venture out in the warmer months then your need for lots of solar panels is reduced, and possibly spending lots of cash on a fully specked lithium system may well be not what you require.
Barry during the warmer months my two 100ah lithium batteries never went below 80%, and a single 120w panel would have been absolutely fine for recharging. And that’s using an inverter which draws quite a lot of amps.

In many ways I prefer winter, places that are busy in summer are empty in winter, and nothing beats a day like today with a sharp frost with Jack Frost looking over us. Obviously the days are short, but I don’t mind winter. But that’s when your solar panels and larger battery capacity really come into their own. But obviously it’s not for everyone, I just hate the thought of the van sitting about for weeks going nowhere.

We will be Bill. Going away for Christmas and New Year but ill be on hookup. This is my point. Come the back end we tend to use sites anyway not least of all to avoid being on grass. I wouldn't mind the odd night or two off grid in the back end but Im not interested in wilding or being off grid in the winter. All we power in the van is two laptops, two smart phones, a tiny TV (not very often) and the rest is the standard motorhome stuff. We don't even run an invertor. Well we do. A 300w Bestek thats used purely for charging my phone quickly and a toothbrush once every two months. Thats it! April to September is when we will be off grid and next year we will be in Arran early on in May and then Europe touring in the summer months.

May see you on Arran Barry. We plan to head there for a few days then come off at Lochranza to Claonaig then drive over to Gigha for our first visit. But our big trip will be to the outer Hebrides this spring.
