Thank you to everyone who sent an e mail.
Councillor Peter Evans lead the debate he is a Ferring Parish and West Sussex Councillor.
As mentioned earlier lots of assumptions and untruths spoken.
Abit of a Sargent major type of person and I thought at the end a bully.
He seemed pleased with himself for issuing court orders to move campers on.He also seem to take delight in that if vehicles were still there in two weeks time they would be taken and impounded.He stopped short of saying crushed!
Nasty Nasty bigoted man came to mind.

Councillor Steve Waight spoke alittle mentioning that things needed to move on now that there was Social media interest ( that's you Guys!).

Outcome ; sorry guys they will move forward with plans for restrictions
 
I did speak.
I pointed out that the issue with the Caravan parked with the stabilisers down selling puppies was a Police matter as it was clear camping on the public Highway.
Did he have a permit to sell puppies ?
I mentioned that the court order in place regarding Travellers was for the camping on the Green not on the road.
I mentioned the enjoyment the area brings to myself and the Grandchildren and that following long drives its a nice area to return too and possibly stay the night.
Mandie was there and said I spoke well.

Next move ; I am not happy about these court orders been issued. So plan today to seek some further info on them.
 
You did a great job David but do keep us informed as Bill and I was planning to come down next Wednesday and stay the night after a 6 hour drive we are still coming down but ???? the overnight now until we know what the court order is, we will still park up through the day assuming that is OK for his nibs or is he saying he does not want vans parked up at anytime.

My understanding is that people were handed pieces of paper and had there vans photographed.
I have yet to see one of the pieces of paper but a retired couple who were down for the day that I spoke to before chatting to you had.

Councillor Evans said these were issued two weeks ago anyone still there when they return would quite clearly have been camping and may have there vehicle towed away.

And yet they cannot move the winabego that has been there for over 12 months very strange, yes I know that basically he is parked and as long as he has road tax and ins and not sleeping in it they cannot move it but it is still vandalised and an eyesore.
 
Parish councillors cannot issue court orders... they can apply for one through the courts like anyone else can. Annie makes an excellent point about the Winnebago. I think this councillor is trying scare tactics. But it would be interesting to see what is on the piece of paper
 
The people that abuse our wildcamping places need educated so maybe a campaign to educate these people would work better than a campaign against the authorities. Never been to the place but vandalised winnabago, caravan selling puppies, sounds braw! Lol.

The problem is Caledonia is it all adds up to tarring all with the same brush. my issue with educating is the ones that need it most are the most likely to be unreceptive 1.e no participating in forums etc. There will always be a contingency. I t was muted a while ago that our code was perhaps copied and distributed to renters. I am not convinced a fortnights rental when they have returned to surbubia that they give a fig of the damage to the pastime they may have caused.
