Well that was a real fire-them-up issue wasn't it.

50 responded out of an active membership of over 3000

just good manners i would have thought....nice to be able to thank someone who has helped with a usefull post, i think it is called courtesy .perhaps thats a bit last century and doesnt matter to most people ?

Having seen things asked on similar forums in the past I reckon that is a pretty good response.

You'll find on most internet forums that the active membership doesn't truly reflect those who are active regularly on it - most come here when they need something, not to try and help others (apologies to those who give lots of their time to helping others).

Like it or not, the poll gave a clear opinion of what people think, even if not that many voted.

It all depends on your definition of the term "active". An active member in my understanding is someone who takes part in the institution's discussions and contributes to the topics on the forum for the benefit of all members. Clearly we do not have 3000 active members of this forum, otherwise the pages would move on much quicker than they do.

As has been said above the the really active membership of almost any organisation in percentage terms can usually be counted on the fingers of one hand. This is true of boat clubs, caravan clubs, golf clubs, social clubs etc., so given that the poll was run for only one week, at the back end of the holiday season, the response was, in my opinion, not bad. (I think that it was long enough to get a snapshot of opinion though). It certainly showed that those who have an interest, represent a substantial number of the truly "active" membership.

None !

All the other websites that I have seen people appear to use them just to see their names.
If someone is worthy of thanks, then post a 'thank you' reply.

Phil

I didn't get a chance to vote, but if there is to be a thanks button, just thanking them on the post would be good, not keeping a total on the profile.

Otherwise it became a game and "thanked 500 times in 250 posts" was pretty meaningless when people used it to game up their thanks count for mutual thanks on "LOL, I agree" type posts.

poll

:mad:because I am a truly genuine real motorhomer spending 2/3rds of year voyaging .( I have used campsites ten times in 50 in 50 years or thereabouts) so I am mostly sans net. except occasionally when travelling! which is mosjt of my time. And I do not have a gps or whatever even on my yacht-I do (and I can do) without quite easily and do so.
So: please please just leave things as they used to be..,..
Every time I come home ...ie back to wcsm... something is changed. Why close the polls so early? Like the the politicos and corrupt pollsters do to get the result they want? Phil U are in wrong business.closed after 60 votes? wots wcfm's total membership? wot percentage is 60? gerrymandering? to hell with facebook. leave it to the children. or ;oes phil secretly crave to be a Facebook nerd?
Luddites forever!
Meantime-what's happened to all my old friends who used to make wcfm great fun? -surely they are not all deaded?

No Facebook

Definitely no facebook, or anything like, thank you!

Although the poll is closed, nothing has happened.............

The last thing that Phil Admin posted was that he was trying to restore the "Thank You" button but was having difficulty transfering the old "thanks" from the previous forum ie before the update to this new format.

:d:d:d :d

dont think it matters if phil cannot restore the amont of thanks we have received ,dont thing we thank any post just to clock up a tally realy ,but use it just to thank a member for a usefull post instead of entering into a reply .i know if you have to reply with a thanks to every person that answers a question you may post you are going to end up with rather a long thread its much easier to thank with a button and then thank with a written thanks at the end of thew thread

Facebook is the devil book "NO THANKS" ,i would never use it and it should be banned for all the trouble it causes but that would take away human rights bla de blarrr!.
