Hi Tony,

A fairly regular problem on Fiats (mine included) is for the temp gauge to have a mind of its own. In my case, a subscriber on here said don`t worry about it. After a while, the gauge settled down and is back to normal.

If you think the van is running OK, give it a chance to sort itself out. If it persists, you might have to change the sender on the engine block. What you could do in the meantime is to check the electrical connections at the sender and behind the dash. I think I remember reading that taking off the front of the instrument cluster can be a pig of a job on some models.

Best of luck.

hi, could be poor contact on sender unit- if you can find it!- possibly on thermostat housing, take connector off, clean it and put it back and see what happens. If no difference could be sender unit faulty and will need replacing. Try autoelectrician to see if it can be tested.
Good luck!
Cheers, Dave:)

I have had a similar problem on my 2.8JTD.The temp. gauge was going straight to 9 o'clock as soon as the ignition was switched on when the engine was cold.

After trawling various forums including the fiat forum it seems like this is not an uncommon problem.Owners had sorted it by getting to the back of the dash and simply unplugging and then reconnecting the plug connector.

I tried it with mine and it worked :)

A cheap and easy fix when Fiat want mega bucks for a new intrument cluster ;)

Hi my ducato was the same,I replaced the sendor unit (it was a vey easy job) and all fine now;)
