Tell me what you think.

Would it be possible to expand the POI database to cover the rest of Europe? Many members travel on the continent and, I'm sure, would be pleased to provide brief or detailed info on free parking or camping locations/taps/waste disposal locations. As has already been said, France is well covered by the POIs on this site and All The Aires etc... But many members on here have a wealth of info on Spain and Portugal and I'd be more than happy to provide many locations in, for example, Greece. Just a thought. As for the site layout - it works ok for me.

Poi's for Windows phone pleeeeeeze?

So you are looking for dogging sites 😀

I thought I might have left myself open to comment, one of our recent stop overs, was fishermen at 5am arriving to fish? At the lake, with all the noise they made the fish must have known they had arrived.:sleep-040:

Having just got Windows 10 I would like to be able to download the POI's for my TomTom without the need to get Firefox.

I would second that. Whilst we mostly wild camp, I have to admit that occasionally I do enjoy getting the awning and chairs out, relax and read a book (or fall asleep)😄

I`ll third that one

We too would like a disc and also the ability to filter the lists as for us (example) laybys are no good. We have dogs and no way can we use a layby to park up in. We would like to be able to filter out all the urban carparks and the laybys leaving us with a selection of spots that might be useful. No doubt others would like to do the opposite. Just a thought.

Some sites are heavily used by dog walkers, some starting out as early as 6am. We just turn over.

As for camp sites. Well is this not a wild camping site? For info on pay for sites then there are big organisations out there to take your dosh and treat you like lemmings/sardines are there not?

PW
I can see where you are coming from, but some people might like to go somewhere to empty their grey and black waste,or like Talbot says to just chill out with chairs and awning out a lot of people want to fill up with water as well.

Windows phones .................

.......... are great - and I'm one of the lucky people to have one (amongst other things they have world wide free-for-life off line maps!). So POIs for windows phones please.

And then I PROMISE to become a full member (and I'm confident others will follow).

Would it be possible to expand the POI database to cover the rest of Europe?

Please bear in mind that there's only one person that maintains this information - me!

There's a limit to how much I can do, and whilst so doing maintain a very high quality resource.

There is certainly scope for expansion. Volunteers please form an orderly line ...

Prune the POI's to get rid of the tiny pull ins that are not separated from the road ....... which I thought were deemed unsuitable as POI's. Some of them are so small that they cannot be considered as a layby.

Please let me know of such and I will review them :D

Bit more info for the Pub Stops would be good rather than resorting to finding it on Trip Advisor or a link that takes you straight there. Now thats an interesting one :lol-053:
We booked a pub stop the other week and the Car Park was on the side of a hill. All well and good but also small with tight turns and impossible to get in :scared:

..

I like the idea of filters for the POIs. When we toured Scotland last month we passed a lot of (and detoured to a few) spots that were awful - far too close to a busy road, for example.

I'd be happy to see some sort of classification system, maybe something like....

Type A - fantastic spot, you'll never be bothered by anyone and want to stay forever.
Type B - ???
Type C - emergency use only - for those times when driving further would be hazardous.

Hi Phil

Would it be possible to have a button to 'bookmark' a particular thread. So that if some one has a problem with say fridge and a good fix from other members we can bring the whole thread for future reference rather than having to search for it. There has been some very handy tips that have come up on some threads but I cannot find them..

Bye for now
Freddie:D

Any search engine will very quickly provide the information you are seeking. I have plenty enough to do maintaining the existing data and keeping internet links up-to-date will just add to the work load.

Please let me know where the pub in question is and I will review it.

The POIs are already classified.

Urban or Rural to start with - if the POI adjoins a classified 'A' or 'B' road this is shown. For the quietest locations choose Rural and no road number.

Simple ...

Appreciate all the work you do but would it not be possible for members to "add" to the database?
An "add to database" button?

Oh, ok. I didn't know you could do that - I'll have to play around on my various devices and see how it works - thanks :)

Yes - that may be feasible in the future with the online POI functionality that's coming. But someone still has to moderate the submissions to ensure they're genuine and suitable. And they still need to be maintained - for instance changes to the information or removal.
