Washing the van today I’ve noticed the decals stickers are sun and water damaged mainly on the side that’s parked into the sun has anybody came across cleaner or rejuvenator for this it’s a right pain in the bahooky. I’ve tried the run off the mill stuff I have knocking about but there must be something out there.

The old girls got a couple of years left in her yet. Funny thing is Tony I’m enjoying this van more now than when I first got it needs a few wee upgrades that I’ll do over the winter. But I don’t fancy paying £1000 for some decals. But there must be something that can tidy them up.

Not surprised - my van is 4 years old now and with the various upgrades over the years I have no desire to change it. Like you Sue and I enjoy it more now than when it was new (the van that is!)

Caz. I’ve not looked into that but Dethleffs want £860+ vat for one side. I’ll not be paying that I’d strip them off and leave it bare first. I’ll ask the guy who dose our works vans if he fancy’s having a go.

If you Google “how to restore vinyl decals” there is loads of stuff to go at.👍

£860+ vat, been there with a small mercury outboard, resprayed the hood only to find they wanted over £200 for two we stickers about 9 inches long and 4 wide, no sale to me.

If you wanted to try something a bit 'off the wall' then floor polish could be worth a go?
A guy in the US - Nomadic Fanatic - uses "Zep" floor polish on his RV (I'll post a video link below).
I have not used it on my motorhome, but I use QuickShine from Holloway House in a spraygun over waterbased paint to provide a protective sheen on models, and many others used Johnsons Klear floor polish when it was still available for the same purpose.
Floor Polish seems a remarkably versatile product!

The video ...

Wully, the Arto suffers same to near side with uv damage to decals. I haven’t got around to replacing yet, reading some posts in your thread I fear eye watering replacement cost.

My thoughts on how to reduce uv fade, I’ve been thinking Herris fence mesh as a possible way forward to reduce uv damage when parked up at home, utilising the roof bar eg, mesh fixed to length of 1” x 1” wood at top, with similar to bottom, with some thought on securing at bottom. I do have a full cover, which I only use over winter months.

Terry the driver side parks perfect south so is getting hammered more so round vents and windows I don’t fancy using a mechanical buffer as I’ve never used one. looks like it’s faded now so no harm in trying a few different things to try and tidy it up.

Whether I park Arto to front or rear, near side gets hammered with uv for most of the day and up to sundown. I’ve not used a mechie buffer either, I have heard you have to be careful with “kickback”. Maybe a good car valet outfit is worth looking into.

They are expensive but Tourershine produce good results. Different skills needed to dealing with cars. This shows the first area they polished on mine.

I’ve got a guy coming to have a look he dose work on all the high end cars for motor dealers removing scratches and repairing paintwork see what he think’s.

Is he a local guy? There is an excellent detailer who would be pretty close to you if you wanted to really push the boat out - guy called Gordon based in Cambuslang.

Linda and I went over to his place many years ago to do a detailing course (used to be into that kind of thing).
