Seen some in Aldi today £12.99 quite deep pan compared to some I've seen

Anybody use them regularly

No, I just use an ordinary casserole and shove it in the oven as I don't have the charcoal burner. Correct recipe and spices does the trick.

About as regularly as we use the Bread maker, Fondue set, Teasmaid, Smoothy maker and the Chocolate fountain.

IE never. :lol-053:

We have all those gadgets too and several others as well, prefer our pressure cooker anytime,it is actually cooking as I write, chicken hotpot with rice, smells great, can,t be bothered with all the gadgets,Don,t know why we bought them in the first place.

people who go to morocco always buy a tagine, and if they haven't broken it on the journey home, they break it after using it once .
a tagine is a pot thing that turns many different exciting flavours into one drab flavour

at the tesco checkout yesterday with teenage son, cashier asked were we collecting the cookware coupons, "nope weve got a perfectly good frying pan, why clutter the kitchen up" woman behind gave a wry smile.

No sorry, a tagine is a way of cooking and by using different ingredients ie lamb or chicken and the appropriate accompanied spices and or fruit/vegetables they are absolutely delicious.

It was on hairy bikers 5 mins ago supposedly the steam rises till it hits the top in the centre of lid then the flavours drop back in to the middle of stew:dance:

I like my Tagine. Great one pot cooking. Just chuck stuff in, bit of water, few spices. It's like it steams food first, then bakes it. Now, I never said I was a great cook. :)

Just got a ham in the pressure cooker now, can't do that in a Tagine, water spills out. :p

I also thought steam was neutral but the steam leaking from injectors on engine sheds smelled/smelt different than exhaust steam or steam from kettle in kitchens I have been in maybe steam carries or wafts other smells

My wife has got one and loves it. Meat comes out falling off the bone, great taste too. The shape does seem to make cooking better.

I agree though the steam I remember was from the steam turbines in a frigate. A particular aspect was that steam boiler water was doped with chemicals. Still execellent though for heating middle watch meals and hot drinks.

We had cooks to do breakfast though steam makes good tea and coffee.
