This is our first Motorhome! We are finding it really noisy when travelling. Anyone got any ideas on how to quieten things?

Take it down to the weigh bridge and get it weighed. You need the front and rear axle weights. It needs weighing with all your normal stuff in it including passengers, fuel and water. Then you can work out the optimum tyre pressures for the axle weights and then let the tires down. If it's come from a Dealer they are probably 80 PSI all round.

If that doesn't work sell it and buy something with better sound proofing :sleep-027:

I suspect you are experiencing rattles, bangs and squeaks as we did with our Bessacarr. Our first step was to reduce the tyre pressures to 58psi all round. Second step was to fit buffer pads to doors and drawers. Third step was alter the locking mechanism on the oven door which was so badly fitted I could fit my fat fingers into the gap at the top of the door. Fourth step was tighten all brackets that secured the table and tv whilst in storage, Fifth step was to put felt between all the pots and pans, Sixth step was wrap the utensils in towels. Seventh step was to secure everything in the lockers so there was little to no movement.
All of the above worked but the biggest improvement was fitting air suspension.

Yes they're noisy. With a whole house full of stuff to rattle around!

Run foam draught strip tape around cupboard door openings, washroom door, and drawers to stop these rattling. This tightens things up. Use bubble wrap in storage areas for plates, pans and cutlery.

You need be realistic, all motorhomes make noises when driving along. The better the quality conversion generally the quieter the drive.

I turn my hearing aids down when it gets too much

I’ve got rid of dozens of rattles using the methods everyone has mentioned, but there’s one I can’t fix: we have a small on-board safe right at the back, in a cupboard, and the locking mechanism inside the double skin door of the safe rattles. I guess they’re not designed to be mobile!

Thanks all for your help.
We are away just now for a wee trial at trying to quieten things down before our main holiday. Have used the drought tape and it’s helped. Removed plates and cutlery from cupboards are packed separately. We find the drop down bed particularly noisy when driving so have tried stuffing the quilted window covers behind which has helped a bit. The other thing that causes rattles is the toilet door, when closed it’s not a snug fit.
We’re getting there slowly... any other tips for noise reduction or storing items gratefully received!

I have to agree with you. The Laika does not rattle anywhere near as much as the Swift or the Pilote we had. The Pilote had lots of squeaks mainly down to plywood rubbing against plywood. Swift just rattled itself to bits. There was always something falling off it. The Laika is very different with everything screwed together. It's rather nice because if you want to do the odd job you can unscrew panels and get wires behind them.
