Suspension Problem

Hi all,my 1985 207D Merc has a decided lean to the right, not really a problem while driving as the road camber seems to cancel it out. I don't know if its been an issue from new as the water, diesel and gas are all on that side with nothing on the left apart from the waste tank to counter all that weight. A previous owner has fitted rear air suspension but it leaks like a sieve and only holds air for a few hours, I've had a look and the rh air bag has a leak at the top so I'm assuming the bag is US.
Its an old system that doesn't seem to exist anymore so I'd be looking at two replacement bags which are too expensive to consider at the moment.
Is there any sort of cheap easy fix for the spring suspension to counteract this problem? I'm intending to travel over the channel in the next few weeks so the problem will only get worse driving on the opposite camber.
Any suggestions welcome, thanks!

check you have not got a broken spring

Hi Asterix with your air suspension one of the main problems is the cut end of the Small air line.get new fittings from any compressed air specialist new pipe as well it's only coppers.

BEFORE fitting the new parts try one of the puncture repair aerosol just a small squirt it could be just the job for a repair.

Next Whale taps ????

Cheers Alf,helpful as usual☺ I had considered the aerosol fix but after hearing tyre guys moaning about it,I thought it might clog the whole system, might do it as a last resort as its such a smooth ride when its up,the leak itself is from the bag rather than the connectors,I used to build coach air systems but never came across a leaky bag. Ultimately I'd like to solve the underlying problem of the rh spring sagging, was thinking along the lines of an extra leaf,or some sort of packer to raise it.

IF YOU HAD A SPRING manufacturing company near you they would recondition the leaf spring
and re-temper it for you that would bring the ride height back

If you don't happen to get the prob. resolved before you go, and can put up with it in the meantime then:
if you happen to be going Portugal way, call in to Olhao on the Algarve, a well known specialist in the town (sorry forgot the name of the business) real experts in setting up/curing all the sagging leaf spring Type 1 Mercedes campervans and motorhomes. Virtually a while you wait service. Retempering,, adding helper springs, they'd have the answer to the well known problems associated with the overloading of the 207d, 307d, particularly the coachbuilts. They were very cheap compared to typical UK prices. Just hope they're still in business.

Sounds like the air suspension is going to need replacing so the tyre repair liquid can't do any harm

That's exactly where I'm heading,if I can't sort it myself then I'll certainly stop and see them,thanks!

Swop the springs over so the camber will help again once you are over there until you get it fixed:banana:

+1 for the guy in Olhao, after i broke the top leaf on a Dodge single decker.sorted at a happy price !

i can't remember his name either
