Supagard - worth getting?

Finally picked up my new Motorhome and have soon realised that the spending doesn't stop there! One product they were trying to sell us was Supagard professionally applied to protect the paint. Seems very expensive to me. Is it worthwhile and is there a similar product that can be applied by me?

personally I don't think so , I had my Black Nissan Navara exterior done when I first bought it but I couldn't really see what difference it made, I actually bought some of the polish at one point and it seemed to be the same stuff that I used to use when polishing GRP moulds which was nothing more than a liquid polymer wax. I never had to pay for mine as it was a "freebie" from the dealer and I know for a fact I wouldn't have paid for it as an extra.
 
I agree with FULLTIMER. Modern two pack paints are rock hard, and lacquer coated. A spot of Turtle Wax should keep your new van looking lovely!

Its a total rip off.

Its the same when you buy a new car, they allways try to flog you the bodywork and interior fabic protection.

A friend who managed a local main dealer garage once mentioned they pay approx £20.00 for the stuff and sell it to the unsuspecting customer for £100.00 +.

As previously mentioned just get yourself a good polish, it will do just as good a job.

Don't go there!! I had Supaguard put on a second hand car I bought. Got it for free because I kept giving them grief over discount/ tailored mats etc etc. I always seem to be able to get tailored mats for free if nothing else! As for the Supagard, yes aftet 3 years the car is still shiny, but it probably would have been anyway, Supagard or not.

steady on a good deal is in the eyes of the customer, but I agree with your maths.

Just ordered a new car and they have thrown it in as part of the deal.

They also chucked in Gap Insurance for 3 years at no cost to me.

I have bought the new one unseen, it is Silver so should be OK, you cannot go wrong with silver (I hope). :(
 
I would not recommend any type of sealer on a motorhome, they are realy great on cars when applied properly but a motorhome is a different thing altogether. A vans construction is usually from three different materials GRP, ABS and aluminium, the first two are designed to flex, sealers are not
