I'd go for the telescopic reach the van from any part with out getting on the roof After having roof lite smashed a french man lent me his I bought one on return from Amazon You'll be surprised how useful they are don't have to be fully extended to use some you can use as steps as well and anywhere you happen to take it not just on or in the vanIf you don’t need to put a permanent ladder on the van. Consider a telecopic one. I’ve used mine for several years and found it great for getting on the roof. It’s surprising how little space it takes up..
Anyone like to share which telescopic ladder they have (and would recommend)?
Mine came from Ebay I think about 38quid 2.6 high or long lolol
And what would you like for your second miracle lololol
Years ago I would have recommended Zarges, but now there are so many options, some half the price of a Zarges. Suppose if ladder gets used a lot, it's worth paying the extra.Anyone like to share which telescopic ladder they have (and would recommend)?

Telescopic one here as well, absolutely essential for that oh so important task of cleaning the solar panels, removing branches leaves etc. Mine extends to 3.6m iirc which is essential for the height of my current project
Also handy for accessing my many external lights and light bars to clean or maintain
Then there’s the occasional opportunity to just sit up on the roof with a camera.
Dead easy to store, had the same ladder hidden away in all three vans
