Suitable ladder

We have a Citroen relay 2008 H2. We have recently been researching the rhino ladder but it says it’s unsuitable for vans with windows in the back. Does anyone know of any suitable ladder that would suit the back and it’s not too expensive?

If you don’t need to put a permanent ladder on the van. Consider a telecopic one. I’ve used mine for several years and found it great for getting on the roof.
It’s surprising how little space it takes up..
That is something I have been thinking about but wasn’t sure. So it’s good to hear that you would recommend it.
thank you.

I bought a Rhino Ladder for my VW LT - which had windows on the rear door.
I can't be 100% sure but I have a recollection it said no windows but what the hell! Never had any problems with it

In terms of construction, I thought the Rhino Ladder was very well made and probably worth the cost.

Telescopic Ladders can be very handy and if you have the space to pack one away inside your van that could be a good option as it lets you get all around your van roof rather than just from the rear. My current Motorhome has a rear ladder mounted on it but I have only used it a handful of times and probably not at all for the last 2 years. In that time I have used my Telescopic ladder on numerous occasions when cleaning the roof and adding solar panels, satellite dish, etc.
I don't carry it with me as too bulky so having the roof ladder there could be handy potentially when on the road?

once you fix the ladder to your van ,it's only got the one use - no scrumping , saving cats from trees , getting in the upstairs window after losing your keys etc . plus it's easy for kids to play on and thieves to gain access

You can buy an ally thing to bolt onto it, or a plank.

Dont forget rescuing fair maidens.

I'm after a used step ladder tall enough to get up to the house guttering and the van roof if need be, van is 3m but I can't find owt nearby.

Thank you so much everyone for your advice. My husband has emailed the company regarding the rhino ladder and they said we can do it with a relay and they have emailed instructions. I still would like a telescopic one too 😆

I saw one with the ladder on the near side.
My Autotrail one is on the near side :)

I put my mud/waffle boards on the ladder with the ground side out. Very sharp and anyone trying to climb up over them would have bleeding fingers!

You might also notice that the bottom of the ladder is pretty high? The Ladders Autotrail use have a hinged lower section that is locked in the upper position with a lock. Works well and when rotated down has a bit of a slope to it as well which makes it a touch easier to use.

(because the mud boards are on the inside when rotated down, it also means I can still use the ladder without removing them :) )
(PS. I turned the boards around after this photo to make the sharp side face out when ladder 'parked')

the point i was trying to make was that by fixing the ladder it was no longer any use for anything else .and having had a few , that would be a shame ,as they are very useful bits of kit
True. but fixing a ladder means it is always there ready to use to get on the roof. Doesn't mean you can't carry a ladder as well (which is what you would be doing anyway if you didn't have one fitted).

i suppose that as i worked frm my van ,the ladder had to be handy .also i caried so much gear and tools , then ''dual purpose ' was the order of the day

We have H2 relay and use the telescopic ladder. Happier not having one fixed, giving access to the roof. Takes up minimal room and useful for many other things at home too.

If of any interest, I can get a deal on one of these Ducato/Relay/Boxer ladders ....
Normal price is around £330 but could get one with for a price with a "1" at the start ;)
