Suction Cups/Mounts

We used suckers to hold an awning skirt on the side of the skirt to stop dogs (dog ... Oscar) escaping under the motorhome out of the awning ... they left marks! Wasn't happy as they don't polish out.

I got these - https://amzn.to/3pTAHBr - which arrived today.

Very strange. They are sold as SUCTION cups, but are incredibly STICKY. I put on on the side of the van, put the lever down and checked the adhesion ... brilliant! that won't go anywhere. Lever up ... can't remove. It was not attached by suction as all.
It took a hell of a pull and I reckon would have ripped paint off it was so well stuck :(
As soon as the surface is wet, the stickiness goes, and as soon as it dries - bang! super-sticky. Amazing and for the right application could be wonderful, but not as a suction cup (I covered the surface with clingfilm as per one reviewers suggestion and it only 'sucked' on for a short time and then just fell off).
Going back - which was a shame as if they worked would have been ideal as a perfect size for the pole I was going to use.

I cobbled together our mast using a Glomex fitting ............

It works most of the time unless the temperature is very hot and then it can fall off. I think they are still available, a quick Google revealed this supplier .....

This is what I have to hold the TV mast which we use for a proper aerial in the many areas where the pathetic Status aerial is inadequate. It has held OK in some very strong winds. I even drove off with it still attached once (not with the aerial pole on it!) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/392616486244?hash=item5b69c42564:g:p8UAAOSwWk1d~jfS
I once did a short journey with the triple unit stuck on the back of my van. :( Shortly after that I changed tactic and stopped using the suckers. I fitted a metal spike to the bottom of the pole for the TV aerial/long range wifi device, I planted it next to the reversing mirror on the door and tied the pole to the mirror bracket. It worked well and you would have to be blind to drive off with it still in place. :D
