Maybe searching with the wrong words but can't find what I am sure is available :(

I am after a couple of Suction Mounts that you attach to the side of the van and lets you mount a pole to the side. The kind of thing you may use for say a temporary TV Mast as an example.
Don't need them to be strong enough to stay in place when driving, but good enough that they don't just fall out if the pole is grabbed or when the van moves around when you are inside.
Any suggestions? I am after a pole as well potentially so it someone knows of a cup & pole kit, that could be just as handy. (this is not for a TV Aerial BTW, but a sensor station).

Could the suction cup lifter tool be adapted for your use?
Sure screw fix do a range of different sizes

They could but the "tool" type ones tend to be a bit pricey :(

I added the word "tie down" to a search on Amazon and found the kind of things I had in mind - https://amzn.to/2RPWOfi
not ideal but a lot closer to the "lick and press" suction cups you usually get offered :)

You probably need a suction cup antenna mount. Have a look at radio/ ham radio websites to see if they have anything suitable.

Not sure what you call expensive, you could attach a pole/pipe bracket to this?

I find they let go after a we while.
I think it depends on how smooth and non porous the surface is. I had a large omnidirectional antenna on a pole attached to the side of a metal shed using a pair of suction mounts. It stayed put for 2 years till I took it down. The mounts were lever operated but weren’t cheap.
If the surface you are putting them on isn’t entirely smooth, then any mount will eventually fall off.
Can you use a magnetic mount or as a last resort a couple of screw in mounts, well sealed of course!

Magnetic mount - nope.
Screw in mount - for sure no way!

Need to stick to side of Motorhome, so should be non-porous GRP surface and can't imagine a sucker type mount would not attach?

Foreign lorry drivers use a tripod suction cup thingy on windscreens for small satellite disk of a L pole.. I got 2 glass suction bar handles in blue with 2 plunger 7 quid each tool station , they also do others.
Couldn't u just come off your solar base/frame with a pull out L tube ? With guide ropes or not !

I'd say, forget the price and buy professional window fitter suction cups. Better than your Arial damaging yours or someone else's van.

I wonder whether 3M make something in their Command product line that might work. FWIW, we have a couple of hooks fixed to the side of the van. They're pretty tenacious yet the sticky strip is easy to remove without damaging a shiny aluminium or GRP outer skin.

I have seen these adapted to hold a pole on caravans, £21 a pair isn't a bad price

I have a 3 cup version of those and have used them for a multitude of uses. Currently occasionally used on a work surface with a 6" Fan attached.
