Stricter penalties for speeding in France

Bloody hell! Thats a massive speed Camera! Is there a load of Gendarmes hiding in it ready to jump out and haul you off to clink? :D

Most of those type are covered in moss and falling apart. The new type, a slim black pole often hidden behind a bridge buttress or tree. SatNav with Speed cam warnings are not legal in France, however my new Pioneer Sygic system nav warns of 'Object ahead' instead 😉

TomTom lists them as 'danger zones'.

Why is it socially unacceptable when M/homes dump cassette contents and/or grey water, but socially acceptable for Forum Members to try to avoid speeding fines, to claim Category 2 status on the Peage when they know they're Category 3 or 4? Do we have the UK version of Trump's moral judgement, because it sounds equally flawed
If you don't want a speeding fine, try driving with due care and attention ...

Hard to read all the street funiture and look out front 24/7 for kids bad drivers, if roads were marked on the entry to speed zones it would help.

Change of speed limit is marked, Trev, in both France and Spain, and you get about 100m notice of the hump that will launch you into space if you don't slow down; in France, you will often see signs such as '7 Passages Succesifs' at the start of a series of zebra crossings on a main road. I have the satnav set to warn of any excess of the speed limit by way of a warning 'bing' to avoid the bigger warning of a camera flash or the illumination of pursuing blue lights, because getting a speeding ticket would really ruin the trip for me

At present a speeding fine in France has little affect in UK, however a criminal conviction can have consequences.
There are criminals and murders running our streets here for years and police dont touch them, why would they chase up a conviction from france.
Mind you no mission of going back would make you pay up if allowed.

Every 5 years I have a criminal records check, including any from abroad.
