The ground has oil anyway as we pump it up to make all sorts of things, even medicines.
Mind you i wont be drinking my used engine oil no mater how much you lot tell me to do. 😂

The ground has all sorts of poisons in it Trev, add to them and get caught and you are not only going to get fined but likely get charged for the clear up too which can amount to several thousand pounds (unless insured against it). Do it deliberately and your insurance won't pay out. Oil and Petrol and many other things are classed as hazardous waste.

But we were talking specifically about Petrol and sprinkling that about liberally on your drive is not just illegal but downright dangerous!

I used to save old engine oil for the very purpose of dipping fence posts in it as a preservative Chris until the neighbourhood watch bloke told me I could get done for it, he was the sort who would report me too.
 
All depends on quantity and how often. Half litre of petrol every few years ain't gonna do much.
When everyone bungs litres of petrol over their paving every weekend, there's gonna be issues. :ROFLMAO:
 
Back in the day, down at the HAC grounds near Finsbury Circus, had a few good jobs removing soil contaminated from dripping generators after various functions they had there.

I didn't write the spec, their groundsman did.

No they had no insurance, my insurance paid, but it was a proper fight, took 10 months for an initial payment, I was investigated personally as they thought I may have started it to claim the insurance, I’d been out of the country for 3 weeks. Took 4 years to get all the money from them.

The Caterham was rebuilt, its insurers took less than 24 hours to approve the claim.

The owner of the landscapers face no charges, he just walked away Scot free. I had him landscape my garden a while later and then refused to pay. He was right peed off, but his wife said he deserved it.

Been incommunicado last few days.

I guess you searched all available avenues, such as report from fire brigade, HSE were surely involved, then make a smalls claims against him personally. Too fires these days where the offenders are not insured.

Yes there are reg but no one gives a fly fook from what i see, more important thing here for autorities to chase after.
Have a look round some of the farms and biz premises these days and its shocking, travelers sites also spring to mind.

Correct i have only done it a few times over 30 odd years, Rob cant dob me in cause he has been caught dipping fence posts in it. 😂
Fact is over our lifetimes many things we and our fathers did is now a big no no.
Next thing we will be told to stop driving petrol cars and go electric, how clean is that.:unsure:😂

HSE visited and interviewed a few tenants etc then we heard no more.

I basically relied 9n my insurance as I still had a business to run. 2 days after the fire we were building a stage in Dublin, it was months before I had a chance to think what else I should have done.

Yes Trev. people break all sorts of regs and yes so did I before was advised of the law.

Frankly I find your reasoning quite pathetic but as I said if you want to advise people to act dangerously and illegally on a public forum you crack on.

Father-in-law used to do that and it worked well. Same as the proper creosote that was widely available then.

Over the years i've looked after including servicing numerous vehicles for family and friends so that generated quite a lot of used engine oil.

I always took it to the local garage who were more than happy to take it for free because they had a heater they'd bought that would that was designed to use it for heating their garage.

Then all of a sudden they wanted paying for you to give them the old oil so they could use it to run their heating system for virtually nothing o_O

It then started going to the local tip who have used engine oil tanks for disposal and then cheeky barstewards from the garage even rang me up to say they hadn't seen me for a while and wondered what i was now doing with the old used oil ?
