Stolen camper conversion project

Found this on facebook looks to have been found .

UPDATE: Our van has been found!! In Pathhead, just south of Edinburgh. Thank you so so much to everyone who shared this post. The person who found it and phoned the police was several shares removed from us, which shows the power of social media for this sort of thing. Keeping fingers crossed it’s all in tact, it’s off to forensics for now.
It never travelled far. Hope they find evidence to prosecute.

Thieves first priority is not to get caught, and very rarely head upstairs where people are sleeping. Some even carry door wedges to stop you getting to them if you hear them. Most of the time they don’t break in to steal your car, it’s your belongings they are after, but if you leave your keys downstairs in plain view, then guess what happens. Also over 90% of break ins happen when your home is empty. But if you wish to leave your keys were they can get them, then so be it.
Advice not to take the keys upstairs is not advice that I heed and anyone breaking in would set off the alarm well before they got upstairs.

You would be amazed at the amount of people who don't part set their alarms at night. When out doing inspections I was regularly asked how to part set their alarms at night. Normally when an intruder sets of an alarm they clear off, not getting caught being their priority. But I always advised people not to run to their keypad and silence the alarm before checking out their property. It has been known for them to do so only to then find out they had an intruder. Also wait at least a full minute before heading out of bed if your alarm goes of, give them a chance to get away. Sadly I have witnessed the results of folk taking on intruders in the early hours, and I won't go into details. Suffice to say they came off worse.
