Up until recently I've always struggled to get a decent TV signal using cheapo indoor aerials perched on the roof or aiming out of a window. I didn't want the expense of a 'proper' aerial nor to take away some of the Stealth side of things with a permanent one on the roof... Then, at a bootfair I noticed a nifty little brand new in the box one from Asda, I paid £1, they're about a tenner in Asda. In town they're amazingly good with it simply pressed up against a window, out in the sticks I pop it on this wee reflector made out of the side of a hot water cylinder.

Of course you may have to find the right direction to aim it but well worth a try. Of course Asda will always refund you if you don't have my success. Here's a shot of it sitting on the dashboard.

Try a truck TV ariel the one that looks like a little joy stick I have used them for years a great little Ariel magnetic base sticks to the roof of van which acts as a ground plate brilliant and unobtrusive.

Its just a loop with no gain where as a asda end feed table top yagi at £5 will give a good bit of gain.i.

I've recently bought one of these,,, great little aerial & signal strength was about 95%.. got all the freeview & council channels .;)

I made the mistake of buying a Maplins Moonraker Ariel, I got a better signal pressing the coax against a metal window frame.

Been there tried that Annie! Before I stumbled across the Asda gem I went to a Halfords, bought one, tried it in their car park and for me it was no better if not worse than an indoor one so it went back within 10 minutes! Then I recall buying something very similar on Ebay, very well 'sexed up' in the desciption which hooked me, cost more than the Halfords one, looked similar but a coat hanger performed better so that went back too!

I'm chuffed to bits with it, especialy for a quid! Up to now there's nowhere it hasn't worked whereas in the past sometimes I've had to give up and go for a walk as I find the gogglebox helps me doze off. Sadly, since the memory foam mattress arrived for my van it's so darn comfy I kip in the van instead of my house. Right now I'm in said pit, blowing a gale outside, lecky blanket on and little aerial doing it's thing.

I try to get away half a dozen times a year... in fact I can feel a trip coming on :-)

This we end feed yagi from asda wil give about 9db gain and can be swung for vert/hor polorisation.

Guess you could stick a small circle of galvanised steel to a non-ferrous roof so a mag mount would work??

As it happens there's a steel vent box on my roof which could easily be used with a magnetic mount, but I have no desire to watch TV in motorhome.

I have to say, I Don't watch TV at all, But if I felt the need I would go for Free Sat, The same system I had on my Boats, Worked well...

I use a Necvox aerial small magnetic mount from Amazon, it works really well but I don't bother with the tv all that much.

I enjoy the tele, for me it's a bit of company, keeps me in touch with what's happening in the world, can have me howling with laughter and sometimes tearful and can send me off to sleep. Freeview has more than enough channels for me and a few through the night where some laaaadies must be in a very very hot room as they've taken off most of their kit :-0
