I have spreadsheets which I have "designed myself"
However I found this one.

It can eassily be modified to suit individual needs and The calculations are already done
I have modified it for
A) Budget
B) Motorhome budget
C) Bank balances
D) Tax return
I am sure many aae capable of "doing their own"..BUT why re-invent the wheel ?


Next year I will use one for the motorhome which I have re-designed to use on a weekly basis
Sad but true....

I also use evernote and have a new idea to use it as a travel diary and a photo album

You can have 5 weeks in a given month

As you see a 3x3 grid but click on an image it expands ro full size (yes all 3 images are the same in my test
Evernote is free and you can view on 2 devices (Free) I like it because it synchs automatically thus a backup
PS my daily mileage and camp log will remain as a simple spreadsheet

I believe some sort of expenditure forecasting model is essential and developed an excel spreadsheet for my own use.

It allows up to 120 payments or income each of can be annual/ monthly/weekly/fortnightly/ 4 weekly/ one off.
e.g. The state pension is a weekly payment which will go on for every. If the amount goes up I just change 1 value and hat is used in all furtue payments.
The council tax is similar but monthly. Two annual credits cover Jan / Feb when there are no payments.

It supports 4 bank accounts (In our case mine / hers / ours / emergency!)

It calculates future balances for each account and graphs them for the next year in each account for the next year.

One member already has a copy and it is free to anyone who wants it.

For me I just like to know and track.
Given my background (Mathematics) it is a minor "Hobby"
But it is handy to have tracked both mileage and costs of earlier trips when planning new trips
The main budgetting to ensure all is Ok.
I have a good friend who simply hates the idea !
His choice (Note NOT his problem!)

Lotus 1 2 3. That takes me back to the early 80's when I managed an "Information Centre" that rolled out 123 across a large organisation.

In those days it was DOS only.

I just can't remember the last time I heard of anyone using 123. You can, of course, download the TXT file / rename as xls / open with excel and "save as" wks but I don't known if all the features would be supported.

A non technical version of the above for luddites in the Group..

Easy under libra office, my bank details show all ins and outs, under linux bookmarks, just click and all there, why bother with old hat, my accountant dont use paper anymore.

Tom Farmer (Founder of Quick Fit) once gave an excellent presentation on Management Information Systems which changed the way I approached the subject.

He said that most MIS just tell you what has happened and using the analogy of the Titanic would inform you "You have hit an iceberg".

Better systems would tell you what is going to happen. "Stay on this course and you will hit an iceberg".

Best systems let you try strategies "If you turn hard to port you will miss the iceberg"

Just monitoring bank in and outs is firmly in the first group.
If you have a budgeting system it should include forecasting and modelling.

I specialised in Information systems and this simple analogy greatly enhanced my career..

Never been i dept, never ran out of money, never owed a man a penny, bought everything with cash, never had HP except a Vw once which i just payed of after a few weeks, maybe im wrong. 🤔

When I first finished college in the late 80s I bigged up my CV a bit as you do and somehow landed a short term contract as a Financial Analyst at British Steel! Apart from basic accounts as part of my HND In computer science I had no clue about financials so I was bricking it. Anyway it turned out they were all manual paper records and as I had learned Lotus 123 at college I computerised it all and ended up staying on longer to finish it. I have never seen such a shambles. Hemorrhaging money all over the place. I saved them £30k in the first week I seem to remember. I also managed to pull the receptionist by week two so it all turned out great. I think that backfired on me though as the boss really fancied her and I was shown the door once I sorted out their systems.
 
Spreadsheets everyone knows the only way forward is an Access relationship databaseo_O

Just one thing, and of course it is your business but...

I would have thought that you would have removed your personal data before uploading it.

You might want to consider revisiting this.

As I say, your own busines of course.

Maybe someone should have told the Government that when their Track and Trace excel spreadsheet ran out of Space. Would have been no problem in Access. I was an Access developer in another life.
