A couple of questions to put my mind at rest
1 is the little box with the red (sometimes green) light a split charger ?
2 what does it mean when its illuminated red , and when its green ?
thanks

Firstly, it would help if you gave some more information about your motorhome i.e. make, model, year etc. etc.

Looks more like a temp sensor for battery or state of charge indicator . Maybe wrong but there doesn't look like enough supply wires to be split charge

A split charge relay normally has 4 connections, a trigger wire from alternator, main power in, main power out, and earth.
What ever that is looks to have 3 wires, and the case looks to be plastic.

You need to trace wires back to source if poss or ignore and live with it ( if it's not broken dont touch ) or find the cover that is missing - could be part of an alarm system i suppose - and i cant do electrics so i'm guessing

and here's me thinking it looked like a rectifier/regulator off a 70's 2 stroke yamaha

Looks old and dirty and not hefty enough for any kind of usable charging setup.
mfw's comment about maybe part of an alarm system sounds pretty plausible to me.

You can get a waterproof potting for electronics does look more a DIY job to me and i'm clueless with electrics

I think your right , the motorhome did have an alarm on for a previous owner , thanks

If I found it on mine I would send for the bomb squad. :ROFLMAO:

Can you determine under what conditions the light changes colour? It is obviously still getting power from somewhere.
