Spiders.

I really, really , do not like spiders, ( where ever they are ).
I am looking to buy a vw T5 campervan, and wondered if anyone has had a spider " problem " in yours, or any campervan.
I know there are outlets etc., but does that cause any insect problem ?
I hope not, but want to know if it bothers anyone at all.

It wouldnt be an exageration to suggest most issues I see in gas systems with lazy flames are attributable to our arachnid friends.

Vans laid up for winter and Mr SPider thinks a burner bar is a great home to raise His family

nope

Hi
We have never seen a spider or bug in our van. Me thinks our dog daisy scares them from comming in.

spiders are ok,it's nice to share your life with a bit of wildlife,we've had mice and rats, rats are very noisy, scorpions, not keen, and at least one snake, attracted by the mice maybe ! wasps will investigate any black mark to see if its a hole, then go in and build a nest.they can block the jet of a water heater overnight.fleas are hard to shift, you need a flea smoke bomb, ticks can come in with your dog or on your shoes.centipedes need killing on sight. all in all spiders aren't too bad.

I had a pet spider once. She was called Jim. Just sayin' :lol-053:

Never seen a spider in four years with a motorhome, but think they must have had a look in at some point.

Trick learnt from our Tent camping days is to give a quick squirt of fly spray as you leave and you will rarely have a problem with any creepy crawlies.

I had a couple of lady friends who were terrified of spiders, so I understand how you might feel.

I would say that you would be no more (and no less) likely to find a spider in your campervan than in your house. It would probably help if you keep the van interior clean, light and airy, including the time that it's parked up at home between trips. Could you give someone else the job of hoovering it out before each use, to give you more peace of mind?

The battery powered repeller and the squirt of fly-spray sound useful. I found this "No More Spiders" spray on Amazon that seems to have good reviews.....

Apparently, that "No More Spiders" spray will also stop a charging elephant, but they are looking for a willing volunteer to help with the final tests..... :):)

Thanks to all, I think, lol.
I must say I am not that keen on other bugs either, but I dare say that some things must be the worst sinario .
Feel a little better about sorting them out now. Our garage has huge spiders in it, and the van will be parked up to the door, which has a gap at the bottom.
Good idea to hoover it out, but I would HAVE to do that myself, just to make sure the little darlings do all go into the hoover.

Murderers! :scared: :)

My little arachnid friends keep garden pests down ;)

If we did find the odd one or two in the van (can't say we've ever had any) I'd catch them and put them outside

It's also a problem with old Land Rovers. The Landie forums used to recommend a handful of Conkers on the dashboard
I tried it in the Transit and they worked

Wuss. Spiders are great for keeping the bugs down. Have a couple that hide behind my sunvisors. They regulary put in an appearance when i'm driving along dropping down a thread just on the peripeherals.

I've got a spider

I've got a spider, it lives behind the windscreen trim on my drivers side. Only comes out when we are driving It's been doing this for the last two months, not caught a thing in his web yet that I have seen, so not very good at his job of catching flies, I may have to sack him.

Squibby.

I was scared of spiders before my daughter was born so didn't want to pass it on. we told her that the spider in our bathroom was called harry and that we had"nt to hurt him cos he was coming out to look for food for his family:eek:. The brainwashing eventually worked for me too. we have big spiders in the house but never seem to be troubled much by flies. I"ve also got my lucky spider in the van that goes away with us.:dog: don"t get me wrong, I don't want aclose meaningful relationship with them but it"s better than being scared witless everytime I see one.

I have to say that as bugs go, spiders are the best, like ladybirds they are useful at getting rid of the real pests. They are going to be more scared of you than you are of them - the worst they can do to you is tickle if they run over your hand, but you could squish them flat in an instant. Not really an equal contest is it?

Dont they say in everybodys lifetime we all have at least 10 spiders go into our mouths when were sleeping ?
