Any experts want to tell us where to go ? ( politely please , more than 2 short words !)

Arrive Dublin Next week for a month. Where would you go ? What is there not to miss ?

Which Pubs to visit? Music ? Food ? Any tips ?

Too Yorkshire to buy a guide book

Best suggestion will win a free painting holiday in Portugal ....

Just drive down, we'll provide paint, brushes, turps, ladders , walls, doors, etc. AND free parking for your mh!

Anywhere in the south west.County Cork is beautiful. The Ring of Kerry is fantastic. We stayed in a cottage in Clonakilty and toured in a car.Beach is amazing. The welcome is amazing too.The friendliest I've ever experienced.

Best Irish city is Galway . All the way round the coast is great , including the east coast . Midlands so-so . West Cork great . Most obvious place Kinsale but lots of other beautiful spots . Kenmare stunning . etcetc

Cliffs of Moher, Ring of Kerry, The Burren,The Gap of Dunlow with Kate Kearnys Cottage also You'll need to kiss the Blarney Stone, & Durty Nellies at Bunratty Castle

Ireland !

Thanks for the good news ... 3 potential winners so far .

More good news: I can use my 3 dongle as if I'm in the UK !

What's the signal coverage like ?

When we were in Ireland I couldn't use a 3 dongle in the republic ,but it may have changed. Don't forget there are some 'aires' in the republic, good for topping up with water.

Wild camping was easy enough.

Why don't you dangle your dongle in dingle and see ?

Check with 3 about your dongle i have just swapped over to 3 and that was one of the reasons i swapped to 3 they allow you to use your data and minutes in 11 countries. But you need to ring them first on 333 that is for a phone so maybe you also need to let them know if using your dongle.

Lucky You, we could just do with a month in Ireland, have a look at "motorhomecraic" its the wild camping club for Ireland, the cost is about 10 euro for the year, i am also yorkshire and suffer from the old problem "short arms and deep pockets" but this club is well worth joining.
Your questions are difficult to answer as all of Ireland is interesting and the people are great, ask anybody in the street what you are looking for and they will give you all the information you reqiure, when in Dublin dont forget to visit Jamesons distillery, The Bow St. Dublin and have a tiple for me, better still have2.
Hope you have a good and happy holiday with kind regards Ken:cheers::fun:

Only done the south coast and Kerry and it was all pretty fantastic. Writing it up for our blog at the moment. Hook Head is a lovely place to camp for a night, Cobh has some interesting stuff if you like ships (Titanic, Lusitania) and free motorhome parking (no services) and the Ring of Kerry is rightly famous for it's views. A trip out to the Skelligs is expensive, but worthwhile (especially during the Puffin breeding season*, although you'll miss that I think).

hth,
dan

*because the puffins come to land to nest, not because you get to watch puffin porn!

try newgrange up east cost older than the pyramids.if going otherway galway right up to donegall, hope you have good time.

Triple ?

Thanks Ken,

Was that triple FOR me or ON me ? I'll be round your way in late August to collect the money!

We've already picked up on Motorhomcraic... Good site !

We have good.but hazy, memories after doing both the Jameson and Guiness Centres on the same day when we flew there, some years ago.

Really looking forward to it !

Johnnie fox pub

if you can go to Johnie Fox pub not far from Dublin - ideal 1st night stop to recover. Go to bar and say you are going to eat and drink - they let you stay in big car park. They have live music in the bar every night. They also have a function room that has live music and food for 1 price - bit expensive I thought as the music in the bar was more traditional.

Straight off the ferry to Dublin, yesterday.

We were WELL advised to spend the first night at Johnnie Fox's Pub at Glencullen, 25 miles south of Dublin. Irelands highest pub, in the Wicklow mountains. Thanks PENDEL !

Google it and realise that they are very modest in their claims . II's the one they take visiting VIPs to and we're parked on their helipad/ overflow carpark. Every US president with Irish roots has been here and young Paddy O'bama is expected soon.

After Dublin Bay Oysters, Irish stew in a couldron, Whiskey cake and the odd pint of the black stuff, we are now resting before going back for the Diddly di di di music starting soon. We have to stop for lunch, tomorrow, because there is so much to see in the pub.

The plan is to do a circular route through the south west , 4 days at the Puck Fair,( check for Malapropisms ),
at Kilorglin and spend our final night back here in a month's time , at a full blown Hooly night.

It's a chore, but somebody has to do it !

Please don't feel sorry for us .

I hope the smugness filter is working

Friday :

Not so smug this morning, though. Poured ourselves into bed at midnight, after a good evening ,much singing of Dubliners songs and an even number of Guinnesses. The storm started at 6 30 ! thought we were parked in a car wash and then the thunder and lightening kicked in ! After 3 hours, it calmed down a bit but we were in low cloud and couldn't see the pub,100 yards away. This gave us a perfect excuse to stay for lunch..creamy ,cheesey mussels and great buttered slices of home made soda bread.

The wind arrived and we headed some 20 miles south to park up by the Pollaphuca Reservoir . Waterford tomorrow .

Can't wait to visit Ireland we are coming over at larne and my lad wants to see the giants causeway then its off down the west coast around to cork then up the east coast back to larne that's the plan anyway may well see you 😁.

From Tramore

Tramore ,South of Waterford

Just done 4 hectic days touring and wildcamping. Saturday night in Callan, a small town with 2 pubs offering live music.. Sunday exploring Killkenny, a historic and interesting place .We have gone as far south from Dublin as possible and will be now heading west . One of Saturdays Musicians recommended us to visit a pub at Kilmeaden, on Tuesday, for the traditional night of singing dancing and an "all-in" jam session of Irish music. The food looks pretty good too

We pulled onto a campsite for 2 nights R&R and to catch up with the laundry . The day broke fine and sunny.

Leisurely breakfast , bedding airing outside....grey clouds arrived and it is now pouring !

Nothing looks less attractive than a rainy campsite .

Gap in the clouds !... Off to the washhouse !

Dingle town

Hi Has anyone stopped in Dingle Town overnight, in a car park near the harbour. If so any problems, advice please.

What did you expect .. That's why it's all so green.

I enjoyed County Clare you cannot beat sitting on the cliffs watching the Atlantic Rollers hitting the granite rocks. Nothing in front of you for 3000 miles. Try the crabs claws you used to get a large bowl full and a hammer to help you eat them.

Most of the pubs / Bars have a direct feed from the brewery so it doesn't seem to matter how good the Craic is and how long the music goes on they never ever run out of the black stuff.

..
