Sourcing old parts

I'm after some new body parts for my 1985 Mercedes 208D - two wings, bonnet, front panel. Any idea where I might be able to source these?

Hi caspar,

I have seen reference to a website called preloved (or similar) and it is a good source for older vans.

You can also register your requirements with salvage yards online and they email you when they have the parts available.

Thank you both. Wish my Geramn was better. I can just about make out front left or right wing, but no idea whether or not they post to UK. Can anyone help me?

Copy and paste the webpage address to Language Tools change the source language to German and hey presto you have translated the page into a version of English.

There are plenty of Austrian, German, Polish and Russian based sellers of T1 parts on eBay Germany.

Searching can be the drama as T1, 207D to 310D, Mercedes and Bremer all seemed to be used by sellers of parts for the T1 vans.

Personally i wish that Force Motors in India would sell the redesigned front ends for the T1 Travellers - takes a 1970s vehicle and puts it in the 2nd millenium!

Yes they will post to Uk. They will send you a bill by e-mail with their bank details, which in turn you pay directly into their account. This Bill will include the cost of the Item/Items and postal charges. NOTE: It could turn out expensive, wherein your bank will charge for the conversion of currency plus they MAY charge for the transfer. It is up to you to decide. Furthermore, If you wish, send me the details of the part or parts you require in English and I will translate it for you in German, which you can then send onto the person in Germany. hope this helps.

I am really struggling here. There's a couple of wings from Poland £26 on e-bay, but at that price I wonder if they're any good - has anybody any experience of them? The rear arches for the wings are proving difficult, as are the front panel and scuttle panel.

I've hunted the sites above, but would honestly prefer to source them in the UK if possible.

Is investigating fibreglass moulding a good idea or would it be expensive?

It's a real shame as the van is 26 years old, just flown its MOT but liek they all do is rotting and I want to stop it.

Another thought was cutting out all existing rust and replacing with either filler or fibreglass - given I've no experience whatsoever of using either of these, does anyone have any further comments please?
