I have one 80w panel on the roof of MH.
I will be replacing it with 2 100w panels.
These panels come with 5m of cable attached, but for ease of installation I am leaving the original cables in and joining the new panels on the roof..will it affect the performance having around 4m of cable on each panel wrapped/ tied up.?

Would be better if you could remove some of the surplus cable,

BUT the bigger problem is making quality waterproof connections on the roof.

solar controller being upgraded to mppt... I will be using MC4 y connectors for the cable.
The extra cable was the only concern...didnt know you could cut the cable.

It would seem that the length of cable from the controller to the batteries are the ones that need to be as short as possible as explained here

Hi Koi

The longer the cables and the more connections will result in voltage drop, voltage drop is your enemy....Alec.
