This happened this morning next to me on a campsite on the NC500 route and we wonder why locals are anti overnight parking makes me wonder what he would do with his black water When out in the wilds.

The point I was making is the amount of bad press we get in Scotland, one MP is using things like this to push for a ban and another guy going by the name of Mr Glasgow put an article in one of the news papers saying we should ban wild camping, the bit I forgot to mention he had to drive over the grey water grate to leave the site.

Just as i keep saying.. The folk that hire them don't give a sh*t about leaving stuff. They have no idea about wildcamping! Plus there are so many more out there now due to covid.
Hire companies need to do some educating before folk can leave with a van...

I wouldn't have posted.

Would have just gone and had a word in the driver's shell-like and taken it from there.

It's obviously a hire vehicle, so odds on they were newbies?

I'd have found out for definite first, then educated accordingly... which would have required very different approaches, depending on their level of past experience with camper vans... ;) 😇 :devilish:

We as normal rational people know what it is. BUT it's the impression it gives to others which then effects the likes of us who wild camp with the respect and leave no trace..
I 100% agree as harmless as it is, it leaves a negative perception of motorhomes and campervans in general and wins us no fans. That is the point pure and simple

This was on a campsite not off grid so presumably the only locals are owners and staff? Some camp sites don’t mind you letting the water go, what did it say for this one? Grey water isn’t a problem unless it’s on car parks or similar

You're right! I missed that. Hmm.

Personally I think everyone is getting a wee bit paranoid and jumpy across the board, but as already said I agree with Chris - I wouldn't have posted this pic up on the forum, whether the vehicle was parked up on an official campsite or not.

As @campervanannie has said elsewhere, roll on getting the kids back to school and folks drifting back to their jobs - that's if they still have one to get back to  At least we might start moving off the media radar.

Its OK giving them a knock to educate them. I agree its a good idea. The only problem is that to many people jump on the defence and start throwing abuse and often would rather tell you to f-off and mind ya own business. So another reason people don't like to nor want to set a situation off like that..

That’s the worst case scenario. Given it was a hired van I think they would be glad of the advice.
