So I have a van

A friend of mine has one too, he wishes it was a Sprinter :p
I actually had the choice of this or a Sprinter. The problem for me is that the AWD drive system on the Sprinters (906-) has no diff locks, and the centre diff is a 30/70 split once AWD is selected. On the Sprinter, you have to select AWD (Mercedes say it is AWD or 2WD). The Transporter has an intelligent "Center Diff" that can vary the power delivery between the front and rear diffs. You can also get a factory rear diff lock on the Transporter. The Sprinter AWD system can only be engaged while stationary, the Transporter can engage AWD even whilst driving. Of course, the Sprinters can have a low range, whereas the Transporters do not.

I suppose this is just a camper to get me through until the Iveco build is complete. The 4motion only needs to deal with wet grass and a bit of mud. I may also go to Scotland in the Winter so 4motion will be good for that too.

Here is the Sprinter I nearly purchased:

Yes, the 30/70 split is a strange way of doing things, I've discussed it plenty of times with the handful of Oberaigner techs I've met, and still don't get it. Thats the system my last van used, my current one is very different though.

Both nice vans though and both would make fantastic campers.

A friend of mine has the same one that Phil has bought. He absolutely loves it.
I am not certain but I think my mates 2008 VW is full time 4 W D ..His 2.5 L engine had to be replaced at about 100 000 miles due to a problem with bore ware , apparently a common problem with 2.5 L 5 cylinder engine

Maybe here soon.

Skodas have come a long way. I gather they're pretty good motors these days.
I know.
Prior to WW2 the Skoda factory in Prague was the largest car factory in Europe.
They had an excellent reputation for build quality. Most of Germanys light tanks were produced in that factory. But then came the iron curtain and they suffered. VW took them over, and they are back were they belong.

SO I WAS JUST KIDDIN THE IRISH FELLA ON :ROFLMAO:

It’s a good engine if looked after with regular oil changes. Gear driven camshafts with no belts and stacks of bottom end. Mine had done nearly 150k when I sold mine and still pulled like a train with no smoke.
