Looks like the Germans have succeeded in converting the British MH'r into thinking that Hymers are the best MH to have when in reality the Germans are buying Cathcargo's and Concord's. Just watched yet another German Cathcargo turn up and get into a space a German with a Concord spent 30 minutes trying to get in.The size of some of these MH's is amazing a lot with just two people :camper:

..

Concord Concorde Concordee

The name of John Cleese's Horse in "The Lupin Sketch"

One man's meat.......

All very subjective. In my opinion our Rapido 743F (2006) is the best ever ! You pays your money and makes you choice.

If we all thought that Hymers were the best, we would all have one, wouldn't we?
I've looked at them, many times, but never bought one. I remember having a discussion, with a German motorhomer, several years ago, when he claimed that Hymers, in Germany, were regarded the same as Swift's are, in the UK. They are the biggest group, but many would rather have other, not so common, makes.

We looked at both Carthagos and Hymers at each of their factories and would have been happy with a Carthago - what swayed us was the nearest service centre is 2 hours away against 20 mins for the Hymer one.

Iveco, nothing like the italian job,so shutupa your face or il sent the fonz round.

It's is not best motorhome in the world, this is just a Tribute, (Play the Tenacious D rift)

Size is changing, PVC sales now account for just over 40% of all new sales in Germany. However it's the big Carthagos and Concordes we notice. That is nearer 30% PVC sales in the U.K.

As a new Hymer owner...

I purchased a Hymer because I could not find the same layout in another motorhome. Previously I have only had self-builds and British motorhomes. There is a lot more thought gone into this Hymer and the small details and features really do make a difference. I agree with *****, Hymer is not the Aston Martin of the motorhome world, they are more like Audi.

In that case I will have to regard Hymer owners the same way I regard Audi owners. :lol-049:

The trend both here and in Europe seems towards larger motor-homes, as for Hymers , they are a bit like Toyota very good marketing , based on the early versions, which are still in use. In the end its what you are looking for in your usage, there is no "ideal" choice . Even the Concord is a bit cramped , that's why I have an American RV , but there are negatives , but you decide what your priorities are and how to handle the downsides. Unfortunately as in most things there are those that use the cheque book to put themselves up the pecking order as they see it , which gives people the opinion that all owners of similar , are of that mindset.

Audi skoda same car just different cloths.

I still prefer my Iveco self build, Its got what I want in it, its cosy and warm, but cool in the summer months. The wiring is simple, robust and incredibly reliable. If I want to change anything, I can. :ninja:

IMO it depends on your budget and requirements. We have owned only 3 'vans, all sub 3.5t, one English and 2 German makes and we prefer the latter. Now we have a Hymer I like the attention to detail so if it's not the best it's certainly in the top 1. :)
