Smelly Pipes

I have no damage to my sink but the smell comes from the drainage pipe and tank. The aim of bleach is to sterilise them. You will never manage to do this perfectly so there will always be some bugs left therefore no method will work perfectly. If you are worried use bio soap powder which uses enzmes to brake down organic matter. I find bleach simpler easier and quicker thats all. Whatever you do, do it regularly and you will flush the bacteria out. Septic tank is a possable a different storey. See posts by Vwalan.

As some stainless steel reacts badly to bleach most of the sink smells come from food waste trapped in the grooves of the type of converluted hose converters seem to use
these days.

To give hose a good flush make a strong solution of bleach and hot water cut the end of a 2ltr milk container hold tight onto sink waste outlet pour solution into container to flood pipe as much as possible and not get onto sink
wait 15mins or so flush with boiling water
It ia a good idea to wipe plates with kitchen towel before washing to avoid food waste in pipes or tank.

Smelly pipes

I have flushed Miltons, diluted with water, down the sinks and shower drains at the start of a trip and so far so good.

Orange squash or Coke....

Pour orange squash or Coke down the pipes....:)

bad smell

Every now and then when the fresh tank was empty i use to put about 1/4 litre of bleach to aprox 3 gallons of water then run all the taps untill i got a constant flow and leave it soke over night.I lived in spain for 10 months and even in the heat i never had a problem, but i would do this every 2 weeks. The waste tank has to be flushed out regulaly as to stop smell and silt build up,have you ever removed a waste tank that has never been flushed, its not nice and can make you ill, cheers Shawbags.
